External Oil Pump, What Do U Do With Original Oil Pump Housing

hey guys and girls looking at a external oil pump and cant find a clear answer as to how to set up the oil pick up from the sump. do u just pull the gears out of the original pump and have a adapter plate to where the oil filter goes and pipe it as such with a oil filter relocation kit? any insight be greatly appreciated. not many pics on the net. i can fab my own custom pickup if need be just need some guidance. cam

External oil pick up direct from sump then either go into external oil filter/cooler setup and then direct into the block where filter screws onto.

yeh cool bud, do u pull the gears out of the internal pump and take plate back plate off?

Yeh you pull the gears out and leave the backing plate off.

Just need to bung off the pressure outlet side of the pump so its not open to atmosphere through the block to where the oil filter screws on. Unless you use one of those external oil filter adaptor plate setups and just put a bung in the outlet section of it where it would usually go to the oil filter. Hopefully that makes sense lol.
