Eps - 96-98 models (type x, type s) have ABS, airbag and intermittent wipers. Pretty sure most of them have digital climate control too (mine did), except for the early ones.

Can you enlighten me as to what a "rain proof windscreen" is? Most of the cars I've had have had a windscreen that doesn't leak when it rains... not all, but most....

i had a 94 model 180sx. it had digital climate control. think it may have only been the early CA powered ones that didn't (could be wrong though)

emtea, all 180sx, regardless of what year model it was is a s13. unlike the silvias that went to s14 and s15 in the later models, all the 180sx were s13. they also all had the same sr20 engine, where as the s14 and s15 got different turbos and variable cam timing. all that got changed on the 180sx engine was the colour of the rocker cover.

Yeah I thought it was just the early CA powered ones that didn't have the digital climate control...

And yeah, I knew mine was an S13, just pointing that out to Eps... Don't really know what he's on about with the whole "you've never *truly* had an S13" bit...

They didn't all have the same SR20 either - the type S was N/A SR20DE :P

okay okay okay...

when i said you've never "truly" owned an S13 - i didn't mean it LITERALLY i was making a joke that unless you've had an S13 with leaking windshield then you've never really had the full experience... make sense?

and /i/ listed those reasons as to why /i/ wouldn't own a 180 because while they DO hammer corners and DO drive like a furious bat out of hell... without those features that /i/ admire in a daily commuter /i/ would personally never buy one.

if /you/ like driving around in a daily driver (not tracked often) then that's /your/ choice that /you/ are allowed to make... /i/ would prefer the electric seats and the cruisy features..

and seeing as you just posted me an encyclopedia exerpt about the intricacies of the beast that was... the holden gemini... you forgot to mention it's perpetual flux capacitor!!!!

and again, the 180 we had was a 1994 (march build) SR20 with non digi climate control...

and yes - rain proof glass is like rainx except it's a permenent thing.

emtea - about the "truly" s13 thing - i joke... it's what i do from time to time :)

hug?

I've modded and driven several S13's with RB26 conversions. (in Forza 3)

They don't handle the extra weight that well IMHO and it upsets the balance of the car. Chassis is designed for a little motor.

iv owned a 245kw type X. bought it stock and worked on it.

reliable yes, until u put more power into it. i blew a gearbox and diff 2 weeks after the 245kw tune.

r33's have strong gearboxes and strong motors and u can get more power out of a 25 without opening the engine.

the type X is comfy and has abs and an airbag

180sx are 4 stud which is gay if u want nice wheels

180sx look better imo

they handle really well

180sx parts are cheaper and easy to find

at the end of the day everyone is different. the best thing is to go test drive them

owned a cadet s13, had no digital stuff at all. No HICAS either...

and 180sx sr20det

Sr20 all the way for power to be honest over a ca.

Nice cars, and handle great.

Power, if you want a rev limiter smashing machine rb's are probably better imo and I have never owned a skyline.

But in saying that have driven a few.

180s are good, and 5 stud conversions are easy.

Get some HUBs from the states, they do complete kits way cheaper and better quality than you can get for the same price new in oz.

Get s15 rear discs (By the new for about 120-150) They bolt up to your rear brakes. Get gtst discs and calipers for the front, and you have 5 stud for around 600 bucks or less.

:D

Then you can get any wheels you want!

Enjoy if you get one, they are light, and nice cars to take to the track as well.

Your compression should be around 145-160, or above. depending on how new the engine is. Oh and def get rocker arm stoppers!
