Would love to get something like that for my 33, but where do you start with finding someone to make it???

^^^ like wise id luv a splitter on my 33

I'm actually in the process of making a prototype for something similar for the R33. Give me a few more weeks and i'll post up a thread.

phil, u da man, we obviously have very similar taste in our skylines,

with ur proto type, try and make it extend back as far as practical under the car,

Well that is basically what I have made :)

However f**k paying $1300 delivered for something that is universal and won't fit properly.

Mine is in aluminium and I am just getting it to fit properly using all factory mounts. The only thing that needs to be done is the mounts on the front bumper.

I was thinking once it is made, to send it to some one for moulding and get them to make it in carbon fibre with a bit of a curved lip (like the Abflug lip posted) if there was enough interest.

I'll try to take some pics, it's just a bit hard to get ones of it fitted on the car because i'm doing it in the garage on stands lol. I'll see what I can do.

But basically this is what it looks like. This was what I used as a guide to do one for the GTST (photo is of a GTR).

The purpose of it was for the following:

a) The factory plastic undertray has to many little spaces that when you drop a bolt are a pain in the ass to find! I'm sure you have all been there. So with it being completely flat it makes it very easy to find a dropped bolt/nut etc.

b) Aerodynamics....this is arguable but really, it can't hurt. And anything that helps me stick to the ground when doing stupid speeds is ok in my books.

c) Catches any drips of oil that would other wise end up on the garage.

d) Better protection from splashes of water/rocks into a detailed engine bay.

e) It's cool, was fairly easy to make and I like it :D

What you think?

yep thats how ive envisaged it, but with some way of getting to the sump plug for easy oil changes and possibly incorporate some air guides for brake ducting.

How were you thinking of including your front under canards in to this? I was thinking of a way to mount the canards above this alloy sheet and have the alloy become more of a splitter and come out past the front bar slightly, it would then protect the bottom of the canards and also allow it to have a black splitter lip that would tie the canards into the front bar... now just to figure out what to put between the canards in the middle of the front bar to fill the gap between the bottom of the front bar and alloy splitter, Im thinking fibreglass to join the canards together underneath...

Well if I just keep it as a flat sheet of aluminium I will just have it between the bumper and the canards which makes it easy to fit.

If we go with a carbon fibre one that incorporates a lip, than that will be a bit more tricky, but i'm up for the challenge.

My challenge at the moment is to mount it properly to the front bumper. Obviously you can't use a nut on the end of the bolt because you can't access it once the undertray is on. So i'm going to try and use those little c-clip things with a nut built into one side of them (can't for the love of god remember the name of them at the moment. I'm sure you know what I mean).

Sump plug is easy enough, just cut a small sqaure in the drain area (has to be a bit larger due to the angle the oil comes out at).

The rear of it also has a cut out so you can still put a jack under the subframe without denting the undertray.

Brake cooling guides is interesting, didn't think of that. Hmmmm i'll have a look to see what is possible.

yeh that look good phill, id def want mine to protrude past the front bumper even if its only by a couple of inches, with a nice radius to it, i also like on the jun design little guides to deflect air around the inside of the wheels,

i have been thinking of doing the same for a long time, but never seem to get any further then thinking about it. maybe PSI would be keen for another phil inspired design

Phil,you are bloody brilliant.

:D
