hello peeps i changed my oil and oil filter today, so i took some pics and a little write up on how to do it for those who wanna give it a go them selves.

R34 Skyline: Simple steps to changing engine oil & oil filter

- jack up car

- remove oil filter cap, in engine bay

- remove underbody oil plug cover :use phillips screw driver

(make sure you lay out newspaper or something to catch leaking oil)

- remove oil plug/bolt place bucket or what ever your using to catch the old oil: use socket wrench to undone plug/bolt (turn anti-clock wise to undo)

- remove oil filter on left hand side of engine bay: use oil filter remover if you have one (turn anti-clock wise to undo)

(clean/wipe off all excess oil from around oil filter location)

- screw in new oil filter, make sure to put a thin layer of new oil onto rubber ring (i use drift 442, it has magnet inside to hold metal particles & have been using drift oil filter for 3 years now with no problems)

- check and if there's no more oil dripping from plug/bolt hole, replace oil plug/bolt after wiping it clean.

- replace underbody cover

- put in new oil (i put 4 liters first)

- lower car make sure it's on even ground, check dip stick (i tend to over fill a little bit and put all 5liters in).

Hope this is useful to anyone who wants to have a go at changing their engine oil and oil filter them selves.

thankfully you have jacked up the car correctly

DO NOT EVER get under the car on a dodgy jack or without proper support

typically when under the car you cant be f**ked doing it properly, but it may save your life doing it the right way

put chocks under it, put a wheel under it, put something solid under it, if it falls let it damage the wood/chocks/wheel etc and not your head

people die from falling cars under a jack so dont skip the 30 seconds it will take

good write up

ill move it
