The whole incident happened right in front of me and im still struggling to work out how he got it so wrong.

Can you PM me about this too please Chris ('er gregor)?

Already received a PM from an appropriate party!

I dont really know him just looking out for him - he seems like a good guy. Speaking vaugely about something is one thing but pics become a massive issue if insurance gets involved and if a bunch of people are posting them up it can have consequences

Yeah he is a good guy :) I don't think insurance is a worry, sadly there is none on the race track with most insurers. I'm sure he appreciates you looking out for him

Not sure if that was aimed at me, but it was a public event at a public racetrack and sh!t happens. But removed it out of courtesy anyway...

I get that, its more of a courtesy thing. I was going to send you a quick PM but i thought it better to say it generally in case anyone else was posting them too. No offence meant.

Hey folks thanks for the concerns. I am a play by the rules kind of guy so unless my insurance covers training days I will not be pursuing otherwise with my insurance co.

I would appreciate if people refrain from posting the pics though. It was a fluke accident that shouldn't happen at a club level track day. For the club's sake and until I can get something sorted with the other driver I don't want people to focus on the negative.

Thank you all - Eric

Had a great day. Run really well and it's a credit to SAU and RENEW for running a great day. Great to meet some of the renew peoples and the usual folk and some new SAU'ers. Also chatted to some of the mini guys too, damn those mini's are cool! If i could be bothered i would head back there for the anniversary track day tomorrow, but that's too much effort.

Besides what we all know happened, it was a great run track day and i had heaps of fun.

Got a lot of quality photos, thanks to the rotor boys for popping out flames constantly!

I'm so knackered and i'll post a few photos tomorrow but for now... i'm off to bed.

Thanks SAU!

Had a blast guys, despite a intercooler pipe that exploded 2 laps in. Thank god thats all it was. a HUGE plug to Ultimate tunes in Phillip ACT for getting my car up and running and stripping one of thir customers cars to do so (yes he agreed to it). I would have had no idea how to strip the car. Booze on the way to those guys.

Correct me if I am wrong but believe I was the only ACT car running (the other being parted to fix my car). It would be great to see more guys from the ACT actually come to a track day to race (great support from the ACT onlookers though).

Finally got into the big boys group and felt the tyres were useless, maybe too worn I thought, I had trouble catching anyone and that EVO was just flying past me, then realised I was doing the same times, just up against better car/driver combos, duhhh... Did a personal best at 1.10.6, was looking at an easy top 10 place before al those other GTR's in session 5 put down some great times. As a near stock 33 GTR and the only one that made it into street class on the day, I was happy with the car and myself. Maybe one day Reece will bring his skyline out to play and show us how it's done, hey Reece???

Had a talk to the renew guys about the interclub competition going on the the background of these track days this year, seems really easy to get some prizes just for turning up and not crashing. In street class I'm apparently tied for first with the RENEW tresurer, I'm not sure how that happened or how it exactly gets caculated, but if just turning up and lapping consistantly is all it takes then anyone could win it, and hell it's free to enter and there a chance of getting useful free stuff. I'd love to hear more about how it works.

WTF is a TK-80??? Is this a GTR with the user TK-80?

Big thanks to the guys putting this on and the photographers for the day. I saw some video of the day being taken and that will probably be great as well, can't wait to see it.

Would be nice if old mate in the 300 offered to replace the fire extinguishers another bloke and I emptied under his bonnet. His car would have been in an even worse state without it.

yeah that was me, good to meet you :P perhaps in different circumstances next time :D

the 300zx was not being driver by the owner, or Dan, and apparently had a braking issue (like others don't see how you could get it so wrong any other way, so it makes sense). Hell of an unlucky incident, if Eric and Reece had not have been there he would have absolutely drilled the wall....the accident took place 10m+ off the race track on the pit entry road.

Other than that, I hope everyone had a good day out. The renew boys took out the overall win with a 1.04.986 in an rotary powered evo 9 :P Very quick time for any tin top, well done.

Brad yes I do think the track is a little quicker, they have tidied up the top of the hill and rebuilt ripple strips at 3, 5, 11 which is all good :D

Yes, don't know how TK80 made it into the car field. My car is a 33 gtr.

I'm still running on re55's that I bought in 2008...so I'm very happy with a 1.064. Couldn't get the first corner right all day, so hopefully next time I work it out and with some new tyres i should easily get me into the 1.05's.

Thanks to the organisers...was a great day.

Yep we'll claim the winner. The rotarys did alright all things considered. After switching to better semis later in the day mal's FD dropped a few seconds off his PB, he's only going to get faster next time too. Word on the street is some of the big guns are showing up to the next event.

And most importantly my apex seals are still where they should be

Duncan will have to drive his street registed GTR down there for the next one,,,my trailer will have an SAU "big gun" inside. We can't have Renew winning can we.

Cheers

Neil.

Hopefully when the next one comes around in may, my car will be good to go. Wanted to have a go at this one but only got the car fully sorted last week. Was good to see you out on the track and the other local cars on the track. Was good to catch up with some the local skyline owners as well.

    • My son recently purchased a 93 Skyline GTS25 (NA), I am hoping to get some insight as to what potential this car has.  I have auto mechanical experience, and I am capable of working on this vehicle, but I know nothing about it.  Where's the best site to purchase parts (maintenance, repair, upgrades)? What kind of upgrades are available?  Thanks again and I look forward to any information that you all have to offer!   Darrick
    • This is a pump I have used in the past; no oil ever leaks or gets past the regulator plug.I was trying to understand what caused Nissan to not only mention it in their manuals but to also state it's a replacement part yet the part cannot be found on my pump or on any new pumps and there doesn't seem to have ever been a replacement part#.  First time I've noticed something strange like this from NIssan.
    • yeah I have brown peeking out from in between some metal sheets close to the hood hinges. Strut towers look fine, even around the edges. some images https://imgur.com/a/brGt3Tu the one that looks the worst is the panel(s) going away right near the firewall on the passenger side, from underneath. Driver side does not look that bad.
    • I presume you are talking about a C34? Have you seen the buyers guide? https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/92065-buyers-guide-the-nissan-c34-stagea/ It's what got me to sign up to the forums when I bought mine. What kind of insight are you after? Up front I'd probably suggest to not get tempted by the poverty-spec models. I can't imagine a RB20DE to be engaging to drive in a 1600kg car.
