This is an email I recived this morning its the second one from her/him seems odd to me that someone from the UK would be interested, but don't want to disregard them if they are a serious buyer. What do you guys recon I've never delt with someone out side the country in regards to a sale.

Anyway, this whole trying to sell and looking at shit boxes to buy is doing my head in might just keep it, slap a nice set of wheels on it and go cursing.

Cheers,

Dan

"Hi,

Thanks for the prompt response. I will be very grateful if you can send me a direct link to the ad again as I lost it after my computer restarted.

Besides I will like to know more about its condition and possibly have more pictures of it I will be very glad to have more pictures of it. Do as well advise on the least amount you will like to sell it.

I will be very glad to conclude this as soon as possible. Due to the nature of my work, I will not be able to travel out of the United kingdom to come for the inspection.

I will however be needing your City, State and Post Code so that I can forward it to my shipping agent here in the United Kingdom who will be coming over there for the inspection and shipping. Thanks again and hope to hear from you soon.

Abigail"

It is very likely a scam Dan!

You will eventually be asked to pay some money towards shipping, if not all of the shipping to a given place and they will want it paid through Western Union.

You pay ANYTHING through Western Union and you never see it again, it's gone & no recourse.

Their deal or proposal will look very lucrative to you, so beware, be very careful how much information you give them, particularly where it can be inspected and your bank details.

You can take it so far, but be careful along the way.

Mag86 was looking at buying an 4WD some time back & I looked at buying a car that was in Newcastle, but when I wanted to inspect, it had moved to Adelaide, when I said that wasn't a problem, that I would get a mate to look at it, it moved to Perth, so just be aware, that it is very likely a scam & a big possibility you could loose your car if you proceed with them.

Cheers, D

Hi Harvo,

Looks like a scam to me, don't send them anything. Someone 'local' will turn up when the time and price is right.

I thought the eBay final auction price wasn't too bad. One of the bidders was also bidding on the R30 coupe.

JH

SCAM.

I've had quite a few of these. They are all scams. It doesn't matter what they say, they are always scams. Somewhere along the line you will be asked to go to a link in thier email and enter your information. Usually paypal info, but the link will be fake. There are other ways they use too, so don't trust them ever.

They do get your hopes up but unfortunatey they are ALL scams.

Other stories include, being a worker on an oil rig or miner on the opposite side of the country etc.

Obvious give aways are bad english, paypal and shipping agents. They are always vague about your item and never refer to it as what it is.

Anyway mate you have a nice car that will sell soon enough. These are a rare car that appeal to a small number of enthusiests. It may take a little longer but it will sell.

If you had it for sale 6 months ago I would have been interested myself but unfortunately I have already bought one. I would have preferred yours though if it's any consolation.

Good luck with the sale, but this is a definite SCAM.

I had a special investigation on the scam I was lured into, we tracked the target to an internet cafe in London across the road from a Uni campus, it was a Brazilian Exchange student recruited by an organized crime syndacate from Spain.... lucky I dont have a passport as I was planning on using my frequent flyer points.

Awesome, how did you get it tracked?

I'm not silly enough to hand over any details we get emails occasionally saying we've won some random lotto draw, or I've got no children and am dying from cancer and you been chosen as beneficiary for millions of dollars all we need is all your info :b

$50,000 sounds like a nice round figure, see if there still keen.

3550 was hoping for at least 4000.

Don't know what to do I've got about 1200 to play with, wheels maybe but not much change left after that. Head job? Might throw a cam and some port work at my motor too :) electronic dizzy, upgrade front brakes/suspension to s13 gear.

Too many options not enough cash, need a job in the mines.

It's definitely a scam.

I responded to an R33 GTR ad on carsales yesterday for $9k supposedly just down the road from me - I figured it was a scam but enquired anyway using my crappy email address and a fake mobile number. Got a standard scam email back today from the "seller" saying it was on eBay, and they are selling using eBay's buyer protection program and a link to some shonky scam website that was made to look like eBay.

They also wanted all my personal details.

They are all over us at the moment because there are so many people in this country easily fooled.

Abigail from the UK, has trouble spelling and punctuating in English, is specifically looking for a RHD C210, but her letter of interest would still read the same if you were selling say... a camera. What could go wrong?

Wait for any foriegn buyer to deposit the whole amount, including shipping costs to your Paypal account (or direct deposit - does anyone know if you can get scammed from providing a BSB, ACN and account name only with regards to doing a direct deposit?) before you part with the car - you wouldn't do it any different if it was an ebay transaction.

I think most of us on the forum know that realistically just about any foriegn interest in a C210 is going to be coming from the Gulf States... not even the old-school-skyline-obsessed Japanese are keen to deal with us.

Not too bad, $450 short.

Without spending too much, you could fix some of the 'not working' items:

Some cracks in dash - can send pics if needed

Factory radio works, aftermarket Kenwood double din head unit fitted in glovebox (CD not working)

Tacho not working

Boost/vacuum gauge not connected

In dash clock not working

I'm not sure that more engine and suspension mods will help, buyers may prefer a more 'original' car.

Good luck,

JohnH

To be honest I haven't had time to do anything to the car boost gauge just needs to be plunged in, clock reads random times that are more like dates. Need to check if tacho is getting a signal.

Got a couple of subs to drop in the boot will tidy it up while I'm in there and a couple other things to do when I get time.

Nah, i thought 50g was a bit rich she was happy to pay $10,000? thought that was pretty reasonable. Just got to send her my pay pal details and it'll be all sweetnyaanyaa.gif

should have held out for more

Sound like a scam i read about a couple of days ago. Was a great read. powerbook scam

awesome, scam the scammer. Havent had a response after I accused them of being either nigerian lotto agents or the dying heiress of a million dollar fortune (the regular spam emails)

Great event last year and hoping for the same this year.    I've emailed them to ask to set a location aside for the Stageas for the show and shine - they are happy to do so if we can get them numbers, I'm happy to keep track of that. Entering as Nismo category.    I'll be road tripping up from Melbourne, would be cool to convey if people are interested, maybe there is SAU convoys from each capital?
