At the moment we dont make a NTSC version as we make DSPORT DVD for the US and some of the content swaps over.

We will start making NTSC versions of DVDs in 2011 but a PAL one should still work on your computer and some DVD players. They are all-region disks so you dont have to worry about the region.

can order online www.motivedvd.com

Thanks for the support guys. I will be talking to Cootamundra Council this week about holding

- A Drag Battle in May

- GTR Challenge in Sep/Oct

Want to allow for more cars in this years GT-R Challenge. Maybe as many as 30!!! ANd maybe a handling course too, like TOTB in the UK

Constructive suggestion from someone who'd give it a shot and has enough power to enter; go to Sutton Rd Driver Training centre in Canberra and go around there once or twice. That, as it is without any changes will be 100 times better than the TOTB courses, esspecially given it's a street GTR challenge.

Only issue would be the distance but why not drag one day then drive to Canberra for the handling the next day.

We used to run days there, so many different corners and variations that are impossible to replicate on a runway.

Also, that place will definately seperate the all out power guys (you know, T88, 450awkw but stock brakes) from the well sorted cars and isn't that the definition of a fast street GTR?

Will look into the idea, but logistically, it would be easier to build a handling course at the airport.

The GTR Challenge started as a drag battle, so that needs to remain the focus.

Im working on some other events in the future that takes care of the "corner carvers".

So JUN arrived at the runway talking the talk, but couldnt walk the walk, at the end of the challenge was still talking it up despite not even getting a time down.

To finish first, first you must finish.

Well done to the other competitors.

Wouldn't it be better to have the GTR Challenge more about track , then drag ? The GTR was designed to be a track car & we all know how well they did in the early ninety's with Gibson motorsport . The overall challenge would be alot harder for both car & driver. Would really show what the GTR is all about , just look at the R35 & how good it is straight from the factory ! Just a bit of food for thought .

^^^^^^ is that meant to be a joke ?????

Errr no.

JUN arrived as the defending champion but left without even putting down a competitive time, so why is JUN issuing a challenge for new cars to step forward?

Ok u go n run him then, I think when u run a 9.2 in full street trim u can say what ever u want coz despite not putting down a time I don't know of many full street trim cars that are going to come close to him.

A track battle would only be fair if the same driver was used in all the cars... A stig for lack of a better name for it. I know for a fact that Im not a good enough driver to push the limits of my car consistantly. I struggle all day to get one lap perfect. Consistancy requires real tallent.

I also had this ... possibly stupid idea. Im planning to take 2 weeks off work and attend the SAU event in October. If the next battle is going on around the same time I'd like to apply to enter the event.

Motorsport is full of "Would be champion but" stories, id it came down to who rocked up on the day with the biggest Dyno readout, life would be pretty boring. Pretty sure the car that came second last (eg didn't DNF) would have been champion, if it had Juns motor etc... and a strong gearbox or whatever broke

whoa whoa whoa... back up

GT-R Challenge was started because the drag strip has stupid rules form 50 years a go which stops cars from running into the 10s or faster without ruining their street car. I knew a lot of GT-Rs out there had 10-second potential but couldn't show it properly. That, and the fact that street racing is illegal, meant I wanted to give the guys somewhere to race safely with plenty of room and way more relaxed than the drag strip. Basically I wanted legal "street racing".

My own cars might be built for corners but when I got into cars back in late 90's, street-drag GT-Rs in Japan were the coolest thing on earth!!!! I loved watching them, it made me a GT-R fan to begin with, so I guess I wanted to bring some of that back.

There are heaps of track days and events to prove how fast your GT-R can go, but there is only one GT-R Challenge.

I am working on a series of track days for Motive DVD that will have a "GT-R" class.

In regards to having one driver drive all the cars, wont happen. Most people in Australia don't want to let someone else drive their cars. Pus, you built it, so enjoy it.

GT-R Challenge will stay drag racing. I will do a different event for corner carvers.

But before you say "drag racing is crap", come out to the airport and have a go. You will be suprised just how much fun "street-racing" is in a legal environment.

Well put Andrew!!! In Japan they still have GTR drag battles on both street and track and they r so cool to watch !

Back in the days we would go out every weekend and have the street runs in every industrial area around sydney that we could get too in 1 night, trying to avoid the boys in blue was part of the fun!!

But it was very dangerous and highly illegal (having ur car impounded, going to court, paying huge fines, paying for storage and loss of licence are part of the pain) trust me i know, it literally ruins ur life!

Andrew has given us a legal and fun environment to have these runs and its awesome!!!!:thanks:

As for JUN he is reigning champ from 2009 GTR Challenge so untill someone can beat him, he can keep the title for fastest street GTR !

Would love to see what comes from the possible track days. And I can understand how technical launching something without launch control can be. But how can we mere mortals with about 250kw "come out to the airport and have a go" when we aren't good enougth for the event? Do you have non-event open days? SAU seems not to have any Drag days this year based on http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/331711-saunsw-club-events/

Yes I can appreciate me launching my car is fairly boring, minium wheel spin, rarely step out etc.

IMO we need more events similar to this. Its getting harder and harder everyday for guys out there who have hypo street cars to get out there and enjoy them.

If only the was an event like Powercruise/GTR Challenge every month

The reason we had a minimum standard originally is because Motive DVD paid for the runway, the event, food and accomodatio, making the event free for competitors. We kept it small so we could make time to look at each car and give them equal in-depth coverage. This also made it worth it for the workshops to travel 5 hours to Cootamundra.

I am looking to make the event larger and open it up to way more cars but charging a small entry fee of around $100 ( 2 daya at airport mind you). The TV show will stay 22 minutes long but we will make the DVD feature longer. As long as people understand that faster cars get more coverage then its ok. All cars will get same amount of trqck time though.

Thoughst please.

All understood. I like the idea. Maybe you could also look at a power V time chart on the day for those of us mere mortals.

    • UPDATE: Hi all!  As we are getting towards the end of this thread where I’ll showcase final dyno numbers and graph, I wanted to provide an update. Tao from HyperGear has done an amazing job building the custom divided T3 housing for the G30. Communication was flawless, price was great, and now the housing is estimated to arrive in 7-10 days! Very very pleased. I must add, if someone is looking for an affordable turbo and end up reading this thread, I would recommend HyperGear. Genuine brands are the way to go as their proven reliability, predictable performance, and there’s a plethora of information available for specs, flow, and more. This HyperGear recommendation is based on their excellent communication, dedication, and willingness to listen to their customers. I particularly liked their ability to create custom adaptations tailored to specific needs, which is a HUGE benefit over other brands. And if we consider the HyperGear provided dyno results, it adds reassurance knowing their turbos can compete against genuine brands. Next update will be after the dyno!
    • I've previously seen people post up "dress up bolt kits" for RBs but don't remember seeing them specify the full contents. I can only really suggest you grab the verniers and start measuring, and keep in mind the cam cover and timing cover bolts are both quite specific with a wider unthreaded section where the bushes sit, that will make it hard to get aftermarket replacements which tend to be all thread (set screws) or for longer bolts a flat section with a shorter threaded section at the end
    • I believe there was a similar one posted by @duggyphresh. They were re-routing their battery positive cable in the way I am also trying to achieve. Sorry, I’m new to this forum, so was a bit late to the party by a few months and so reignited the old thread, as I wanted to know how they got on with doing it.
