Team, I have a problem with the nav sat screen which pops up from the central console in my Series II. It comes up but goes straight back down i.e. won't stay up. Is this a known problem? Any ideas on what i can do to resolve this? Something I can press or reset perhaps?

switch on top may be stuffed. does the screen work at all?

Normally the screen comes up, thinks for a bit (I assume it's waiting for the Nav DVD to boot - but it isn't loaded), then gives me a menu option in Japanese. If I push the middle, top line button I get the wider menu which I can select items like 'fuel economy'. If I push the screen button again, it retracts.

Now, today, if I push the screen button, the screen comes up, sits there for a second, and then retracts - nothing has a chance to appear on the screen. The switch appears to work fine, it's just the screen seems to decide 'bugger this - I'm outta here'...

Viagra? :P

Viagra? :P

Lol, Tarun!

Anyhow, once the dealer from where I got mine from (I drop by occasionally at their car yard) told me that one of their other V35 is also having the same issue (That is the Sat NAV screen not being able to stay open by itself for long).

Is it just a wear-and-tear thing, or a serious common issue with the V-series? :(

I don't have any issues with my pop-up screen......

I don't have one.

I got a 7" tilt screen in the center instead!

Well, for what it's worth, the problem has resolved itself. Just returned from my second round-trip from Canberra to the Gold Coast, and the Nav Screen was working fine all the way. I'm thinking the original problem was caused by interior heat which played havoc with the switch (contacts sticking perhaps?) - I tilted the screen forwards and backwards and tapped the switch, and eventually it started to work properly again. This time...

BTW, off topic, but this car was built for the highway. The coupe body, auto gear ratios, torquey engine and comfortable seats make the car the perfect sports tourer. Family flew up to the Gold Coast and I took a couple of days to drive up (and back) taking little side-detours onto the original Pacific Highway. Played hop-scotch with a HR33 GTR between Coffs Harbour and Taree (heh heh). As I explained to my wife - that's *my* holiday... cool.gif
