R34 Gtr Suspension - Current After Market Ones Way Too Stiff

i have searched but could not find what i was looking for

i currently got suspension that is way way too stiff for road use, so looking for lot more softer ones that are road oriented

what are my options

1. can i make the current ones softer by putting in different springs, if so who does this sort of work

2. Buy stock R34 GTR V-Spec suspension

what is cost for both option going to be

Also looking at the SAU, it seems lot of people recommend this spring rate

Front: 8kg | Rear: 6kg

If it is a road car with the occasional spirited drive get a set of Bilsteins with 6/4 spring rates front and rear; may as well get a camber kit too to correct your camber if you want to lower the car slightly. Stay away from Jap brands.

I recommend the Nismo S Tunes as they are very compliant on the road to soak up the bumps and firm enough to be sufficient for a spirited drive. Spring rates I thibnk are 8K F/R

I don't mean to blow my own trumpet, but I have a set in mint condition for sale for $1500. Checked and OK'd by Racepace.

Yeah the S-Tunes are what I used to have... 6/6.8 front/rear, they are good. Need a camber kit with them though.

Import them. I got my Super Street for 1.4k landed. I dont think the aus spec super street are worth the extra 1k. PM me if you want more details. As mentioned by Choyda, super street is the best for comfortable. handling and ride height (being fully adjustable). They will make the height illegal if you drop them to the lowest.

An alternative I used with my previous R34 GT-R was to use standard shocks with "Tanabe Progressive Springs"

Obtained from Powerplay Imports. Costed me $300 incl. instal.

The car ended up 18mm below V-Spec height & front lip was 105mm above the ground. Camber was not altered much at all.

8/6 is still pretty stiff, and IMO too stiff for a street only car. I'm guessing you're more likely to like 6/4. It would well be worth getting a ride in cars with those rates as everyone has they own idea about what they call stiff and what they like.

If it were me i'd think about using different springs with the suspension you have, since it looks alright. Any identifying stickers?

BC BR from Just Jap with 6/4 option springs (should be able to ask for whatever rate you like).

Local tire alignment place will put em in for no more than $400. Or you can put em, got a jack? Got a socket set? You can put em in.

Also your current set of shocks don't have a threaded body, most if not all of the newer units do. This allows you to raise / lower the car without changing

the spring loading.

If you're looking for shock/spring combo, look no further because Dan does!

I would advise strongly against the Tein Super streets. they are cheap twin tube shock and absolute entry level teins. not great really. the upper level tein stuff is great but their entry level stuff is not so great.

I'd also stay well away from the BCs and the other china brands.

You want comfort. My advice would be:

set of used V-spec shocks and springs. will be cheap. certainly less than $1000. Id say more like $500-$800 for a good set.

Set of nismo S-tunes with the springs (like what Matt is selling). they are a good shock and give great handling. they are a little firm but by no means uncomfortable.

or a set of bilsteins with some suitable springs (around 6kg front 4kg rear is plenty but seek some good advice on that) and valved to suit. Cost probably around $1500 for shocks and springs but are quite good.

if it were my car I'd probably go the S-tune option. Nismo parts like these are designed for road cars and have comfort and safety in mind when built. they are a good set-up for a road R34 GTR. I have had a set myself in my old silver R34 (now owned by GTRNUR on this forum).

yeah I still think something like matts S tunes or the ones on yahoo would be the go. they have remote canisers on the front, have suitable spring rates, they also lower the car about 30mm and are great quality. they are THE bargain suspension upgrade for R33/34 GTR. they are around $2500 new so are by no means a 'cheap' shock and are made in japan. They are also damper adjustable.
