I will run the same width rim with the same offset but I will run a 225/40 R19 instead. This tyre will give me almost the exact same rolling diameter as the stock wheel and tyre with some nice stretch :)

Yep that would be ideal. Only reason I didn't go that size is because I didn't want to be cop bait. The KU31's have no sidewall protection as it is, let alone when stretched on!

lol i regret not modding my stag more, but stopped due to your cop bait theory.

face it its a family wagon, its the furthest thing from cop bait there is. and i live in vic!

stretch those tyres.

and those wheels sit perfect! you've done well

225's on a 9.5" wide rim?

Really?

I don't understand why anyone would want to run the exact same rolling diameter as the stock wheel and tyres.blink.gif

The speedo is out by miles and they look tiny in the wheelarches.

The car will handle like a bucket of shit; because the already too short sidewalls are now being given yet another job to do.

On a 1200kg Silvia tyre stretch might work (handling wise), on a 1700-1800kg wagon; not so sure. You're more likely to pull the tyre off the bead if you strike a bump; mid corner.

Theo only reason I can see for stretching rubber; is if the rim seriously won't fit under the guard with appropriately sized rubber on it (insert ghey stanced website name here) . The above offset and width with an appropriate tyre actually will fit.

But that's just one mans opinion.

Yep, running 245/45/18 on my 8" 350GT rims; straight sidewall. On a 9" 245 is perfect.

But I'm not a hipster.

that^^^^^^^^cheers.gif

not getting into this debate.......most of you know my feelings on stretched or really low profile rubber on heavy cars!spank.gif....unless its for stance!

On a 9" a 245 would be straight, honestly there's such little stretch in my setup it's only noticeable if you're looking for it. Certainly not obvious.

How far out is the speedo out on our cars? From memory my size made me something like 1.7% too fast from the standard 17" tyre size. Still when I'm sitting on 60km/h people are passing me.

245's are fine......with the profile you have it should be pretty good.

oops....I forgot....I'm out of this debate.

haha no debate from me. Wheels/tyres are personal preference. Mine is looks, clearly overkill for the power mine is making.

Fitment looks the goods Jase.

I run a 245/45-18 on my 18x9+30 and find the ride is great at absorbing bumps nicely and the slightly taller than stock tyre has my speedo within 2km. I dd take a while to get used to the side wall but now I find it looks great.

I reckon yours looks spot on actually.thumbsup.gif

On OEM 17's, at 110km/h; my speedo was out by 11km/h, so that's 10%, monumental pain in the arse. My error is now around 3-4%.
