Marcus89
Videos like that scare you so much. It's like hearing about flywheels letting go and coming through the cabin you would think there is a pretty high chance of the driver getting hit if that happens would not be pretty Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/351451-what-tailshaft-are-you-running/page/4/#findComment-6529677 Share on other sites
Marko R1
^ exactly what I was thinking. Without that loop over the tail shaft, it could be lethal. There are other measures like scatter shields for flywheels as well for added safety Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/351451-what-tailshaft-are-you-running/page/4/#findComment-6529684 Share on other sites
kitto
That car had a tailshaft loop that met IPRA requirements. He said it did sfa to stop the tsilshaft from coming into the cabin. The explosion obliterated the tailshaft loop. Not cool huh. WMDC35
As elite racing said earlier apparently the around 51 inches & over is the danger zone, which is about where the rwd skylines are, the loop is mainly to stop the shaft hitting the ground & potentially flipping the car I’ll prob go back to 2 piece? , interesting on some of the later mustangs they’re going from the 2 piece to 1 after failures, there’s quite a lot of debate around it (the 1 piece i have has upgraded unis, is around 2.75inches diameter & supposed to be good for over 10,000rpm? is about 50 inches long) Edited September 12, 2012 by WMDC35 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/351451-what-tailshaft-are-you-running/page/4/#findComment-6530173 Share on other sites
