Hey everyone im a new member to SAU. Been reading for quite some time and decided to join the forum. Well my question is should I buy an r34 Gtt or be patient and wait a year or two and but an r34 GTR? I currently own a mitsubishi lancer in tip top condition limited edition so that will bring me a penny or two. Only thing is that im scared of buying a skyline because my brothers r33 Gts-t got stolen and he was uninsured (idiot i know). His car had alot of bad luck with 3 hit and runs on his driver side :(. I get my full licence in half a year and am still considering what im going to buy.

Wait till you see a 33 GTR screaming past you, crouched down on all fours on the highway. Not everyones cup of tea but they have a great street presence.

You said you're looking at a 34 GTT. This makes me think you've got around 20k to play with. My advice would be to save another 5 - 10k, buy a 34 GTT and spend the rest on the things you'll need to fix up, insurance, alarm and a few mods.

You can't compare the 34 GTR and the GTT, hell you can't compare any GTR to a GTST/GTT they're worlds apart. The GTR's attract more attention but provided you've got insurance and a good alarm system in place and it's in a safe neighbourhood you should be okay. Having said that, if someone wants to steal it, they will there's no stopping them.

EDIT: I should also mention that the maintenance and spare parts costs of the GTST/GTT's and the GTR's are miles apart. If you want something you can drive every day and all you want to do is pay for the petrol each week and occasionally tires then buy a GTT.

Im guessing your still 18 seeing as youve got 1 and a half years to get your fulls? How on earth does an 18 year old even contemplate purchashing a car that will set them back minimum $60,000+ after purchase, insurance, mods etc (34 GTR).

IMO Keep your feet planted for now and take it as it comes, id personally get a 32 or 33 GTR if the budget permits so you learn to respect and appreciate the fact that your driving a performance machine (something you know nothing about coming from a LE lancer) before splurging all your finances on a 34 only to ruin it.

If it's the "age issue" between 33/34 then just get a 97 Series 2 GTS-T. Set you back 10 grand, then you have 10 grand on mods. Or buy a GTS-T for $13-14k with all the mods done to it and you're also set.

But on the other hand if it's the style... imo the 33 wins hands down. How anyone can say it's ugly beyond me, 34 GTT's make me wanna hurl. But then again none of this really matters does it? It's like asking someone what their favourite colour is, does it really matter if it's different to yours?

Ill clarify my statement that if your going to buy a GT-R save up till you have enough for a neat 34, then buy a tidy 32 and turn it into a monster :P

either way... a well modded 33 looks better than a stock 34....

31, 32, 33, 34, they all aint that great looking till you put work into them, and then, they are all as easy as each other to make look good

Have you driven a really good R33 GT-R?

Do not compare with your brother.

Whilst you learn from your bro' and get insurance, you can already breathe easier. Insurance premium sucks at your age, but you just need decent income.

We're talking (arguably) about the 1st production car that ever went around Nurburgring in less than 8'

And the new R35 has cut off less than 3/4 min off that.
