i have a soarer - the owner in japan has done this to the side repeators.. i don't know how to explain it.. but the side repeator stays "on" when park lights are on...

soooooooo park lights go on.... and side repeators turn on... but still indicate...

i want to do that same treatment to my side indicator.. as can be seen here

and here..

anyone know how to do it?

...or even what this process is called so that i can google it?

and yes i know this is a skylines forum but A) the process should be the same and B) soarer forums are chock full of retarded folk.

sounds like they may have simply doubled up the wiring, so the indicator gets power both when the parkers are on as well as when you indicate.

Sounds easy if I think I know what you're talking about. Solder another set of positive and ground wires from the parker wires to the side repeaters for both sides. Cover with electric tape. Done. Or try bypass the blinker relay.

that doesn't sound easy at all...

it sounds quite the contrary!!!

reason being... if i solder a wire from the park light wiring... into the indicator wiring...

...then how would the indicator wiring cancel??? wouldn't it just stay on and not blink??

maybe a relay before the indicator relay signal so if parkers = on then power to indicators.. if indicators = on relay switches over and indicators work but parkers have cut off..

are you saying i should INSTALL a NEW relay before the standard indicator relay?

i think i get what he is saying. now i'm not entirely up on relays, but can you have a relay where it has 2 power sources, and if only 1 has power it will be switched on, but if both has power it turns off? if you can then that would be the way to do it. the signal from the indicators would then come as a pulse making the light turn on and off as it pulses.

ok after thinking about that some more, having a second relay may be the easier option. have the first relay setup as normal (using the parkers as the signal). the second relay could be used between the first relay and the lights. this one would get it's signal from the indicators, however the 12v in wouldn't actually be 12v in, it would be the wire coming from the first relay and the ground signal out would be going to the light. this would require a relay that is closed in the normal position though, which may be hard to find as they are normally open.

If they've set up your side repeaters to do this, then you can disconnect the normal feed to your main indicator, and take the feed for the indicator from the side repeater. Whatever they've done to the side repeater to make it work like this will also make your main indicator do the same (assuming the circuit can handle the load of the extra bulb, which shouldn't be a problem as the wattage is pretty low anyway)

only bad thing about jumping the main indicators off the side indicators is (in my opinion) that it's REALLY dodgy wiring...

The less dodgy way is to find the source for the side repeaters (normally this is piggy backed from the main indicator, but I imagine this is not the case here) and take the feed from there. Rewire both sets of lights if need be, to keep the wiring tidy.

That's what I mean. find where they're getting their feed (obviously not from the normal spot, which is usually piggy backed off the main indicator) and use the same source to feed the main indicators. If you wire the main indicators straight to the source for the repeaters (which already do what you want them to) then this achieves the same result as piggy backing the main indicators off the side repeaters (which as you correctly pointed out could end up dodgy)

here is a very basic way to do it with just 2 relays. it will light up your blinker / repeaters with the parkers or headlights (whichever you choose) and make sure that when you indicate left of right the blinker flashes in sync with the side and rear one.

the only thing that wont work is the two fronts as hazard lights. it is doable but would require 2 diodes or another 2 relays. i can add to the drawing to show you if your keen.
