I finally got around to custom fitting my 2 12in pioneer free air subs into the boot of my R33. It took a while and there was a fair bit of fiddling round, but i am here to say that it is possible to have subs in an r33 and still have a working boot. People told me that it couldnt be done, and that the only way was to go to a professional fiberglasser, but they were wrong, all you need is some MDF to build a shelf for the battery, fuses and hicas, (and my amp) then a nice sturdy frame to bolt the subbies onto.... then presto:

looks nice dude

well done.

be careful putting stuff in the boot tho...very very fragile...if anything knocks onto the cone pretty much game over.

thought about using some grilles?

maybe a glass panel extending from the box (few cm) and chuck a neon down low.

just some suggestions for proetection.

but looks good!

there is no box, its just a frame and a face with the subs screwed into them.... the battery and hicas fit in the shelf with a bit of rearranging. I am lucky that my amp is nice and small, there is another one under the passanger seat to run the rear spekers. i will take a pic of the space behind the subs when i take it off to fine tune the amp settings a little.

yeah the space saver shit can get ****ed. in all honesty id almost rather have my car towed to workshop to have tyre fixed and fitted than risk mashing the rims and putting the space saver shit on

nice install, looking to do something similar myself ...

a couple of worries tho ..

does having 2 fairly large speaker magnets next to lots of pretty important electronics affect them at all ? no way to really tell i guess ..

and with the space saver ..

I used to have an MR2 turbo with 17" x 9" alloys on the rear (245 tyres) I managed to get a puncture on one of the rears, lucky me, and i didnt have the tool with me to get the centre cap off the alloy. Phoned mates dad who came out with a tool to get the centre cap off, changed the rear for the space saver, and well the 17" rear wheel would not fit anywhere in the car !!!!

the rear boot too small, and NO chance in the front boot.

ended up having to put the wheel in the back of my mates dads porsche !!

has anyone tried putting a larger than normal alloy in their boot ?

yeah i havnt thought about what would happen if i had to change my wheel.... there is access, but i would probably have to put it in the back/front seat.... i have also moved all of the electrical stuff so i dont think there will be too much problems there. Usually magnets mess up data storage but electrical wiring i believe is quite safe... my 7x10s used to be about 3mm away from the battery terminal, but i didnt have any problems there

    • Hahahahah, look, your not wrong 馃槀馃槀 and thank you brother 馃檹馃徏 jokes aside, I haven't driven the car in 6+ years and it's like I'm starting all over again, and furthermore the car is wayyyy more powerful and it's characteristics are night and day different now compared to what I remember. So I'm slowly easing myself back into the groove, the car is literally scaring me a bit tbh.....it feels like it has 200hp more than it does on paper and responds like a cammed Ls v8, and-some! 馃槄 every single bit of throttle pedal travel and input has instant response all the way to the floor, zero flat spots or labouring feelings, it's nuts. Im shooketh, go easy on me hahahaha or don't 馃馃徏馃槉
    • If the house has ever been sold before too, they have photos from that etc.
    • I used to do that, but then I got savvy. The benefits of having your phone photos geotagged outweigh the negatives. I just don't publish any photo straight off the phone/out of the gallery/off google photos, etc. If I'm going to use a photo, other than for SMSing to fam, I will always open it on the computer, copy it/otherwise edit it and save down without the original metadata, before using it. For example, posting photos of my engine bay into a thread on here, to show someone a plug or something - I will just screen-cap the section I want to use and paste that section direct from the clipboard into the post. No metadata goes along with.
    • Yes, so it won't work for places with no photos on the net. I would have said that there are no photos of the inside of my house on the net, but....then I realised that my kids' parties would have had bazzillions of photos of the living spaces, kitchen etc put on insta and other shitmedia. So... you can see how insidious it is.
