Guys,

I took off the throttle body to clean my air reg.

When i chucked it back on there was a small leak (on one side) even though i had a gsket (old gasket was fine - no rips issue).

So i purchased some form a gasket (from supercheap) to seal the tiny gap.

Let it dry over night and continued to drive my car.

Stupid me should have checked that it was sealed properly but i didn't.

Having been driving it for a week have car keeps on stalling when i back off the pedal when driving (i've got another thread regarding this issue - could be related to this?).

So i just checked yesterday and it's still got a leak.

Just pulled the throttle off today and fcuk me dead i've got the form a gasket all inside my plenum and on my actual throttle body flap.

So there two questions are;

1. Is the car screwed with some residue/form a gasket inside the plenum? Do i need to pull it off? Clean? - Pretty sure its stuck there as it's sticky/dried up.

2. Could this be the issue for my car stalling.

Problems, problems and more problems!

FMD!

Thanks.

I personally wouldn't worry too much about the gasket goo. It sets as a very soft rubber and if it ended up in your combustion chamber it would melt and fire away from the heat.

As for your stalling issues, do you have an atmo venting blow off valve?

I was worried that it would get stuck in the chambers? but if it will burn away then i guess it would be alright then! =)

as for bov - yes i do.. refer to this thread for all the info required: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/351720-engine-stalling/

thanks.

any kind of air leak could do that.

when you use the gasket goo - you dont need to use a whole lot if you're mating flat surfaces because as soon as you bolt everything on it will expand and seep out the sides.. also make sure you go the whole way around - not just the part thats leaking.

just connect a recirculating BOV and check if that fixes your issue. at least we would be able to rule that one out.

I am not entirely sure of the metrics/terminology here but there's only a certain amount that the helical will actually spin both wheels. I've seen it on video with my own car where two lines of smoke switch over to just one after you really get in to it. Unlike with a clutch diff where you can keep your foot planted until the car regains grip, in my experience with the helical you want to be utilizing traction control allowing LIMITED slip or lifting (partially) when you start to spin up both tyres with a Nissan helical. Which makes them pretty sub optimal for drifting duty. That said... this is probably a helical on numbers alone. Just put the Kazz in
    • Let's just fix the problem by f**king the rest of the gearbox.
    • Unlikely, as per Greg's post. This is not helical diff behaviour unless one wheel is up off the ground. Shimming what? You don't "shim" a mechanical LSD. Probably not in the sense that you have heard of people "shimming" a diff. And the process that Nissan f**kwits call "shimming" a diff involves super-preloading a VLSD cartridge against the side of the diff to create a friction/wear point (in a place that it wasn't supposed to have one) to make the sloppy, useless, viscous diff into a hybrid viscous/mech abortion. In case it isn't clear, I consider the process to be stupid. Nike.
    • How much does the shifter move when the car is in gear with the engine off? If it is more than about 1cm you need to replace your shifter bush. Your shifts will just get crunchier, not faster, with a short shifter unless you also rebuild the whole box
