hi guys,

i have an r32gtr which has a painted front lower lip - i dont know why they paint them in the 1st place, imo they look sooooo much better in the factory black plastic finish.

anyway, has anyone ever attempted to remove the paint & if so what works well?

i dont want to damage the factory plastic finish nor do i want to rub it back - i want that factory look :)

i have heard about a paint stripper which doesn't damage plastic, does it exist though?

I couldnt find anything when I redid mine mate, I fear that even if they dont damage the plastic as such it will be badly stained being a porous/grainy finish...I ended up spraying mine in Satin Black bumper paint which has a slight texture to it when it dries, looks good...but agree 100% that factory unpainted looks best. Let me know how you go...I considered a dull grey paint of some sort as another option but couldnt find a colour I was happy with.

that sounds good - does the paint flex though or does it crack as soon as it touches a gutter?

i sprayed mine using some $2 paint and put some clear coat on it, its sort of faded in the sun now so it looks factory haha, i also wet sanded it to get rid of any large scratches, came up a treat.

Depends what colour the car is. I think white with the matching white lip looks good. Your best bet would be to probably start fresh, even if you manage to get the paint off the standard plastic might be damaged from cerb taps over its 18 year history.

Mine hasnt cracked at all but it scuffs like every other paint does, I think its a semi Nurathane (?) rubbery paint...my brother did his side skirts on his GTiR Pulsar in it too, looks good.

I guess the good thing has been its very easy to touch up if and when you do mark it going in a driveway etc...quick mask up of the area and give it a lick...the brand is Motospray 'Bumper Spray', the can is yellow, black lid.
