Hey guys

Just bought another GTR yesterday and have just started a complete tear down and rebuild

This will be the 2nd GTR i have built from ground up, here's a pic of the first one i did

gtrpassengerjpg.jpg

I did complete rebuild on this one as she was bought damaged in Japan so was completely gutted and built from ground up

Have to say any GTR with a brand new paint job looks immaculate but this thing was to die for, every rubber and seal throughout body was replaced in reassembly

I then got lil ambitious with boost one night whilst showing off and popped a turbo and piston so the motor came out and had quick freshen up

Anyone who used to get work done at Advan Performance in Sydney would probably recognise this car, it used to get a LOT of attention as it just screamed CLEAN with brand new paint/wheels etc etc

Well that's enough of my history now let's get to the present

Just bought this off guy here in Brisbane, she was bought as a non runner from Japan so needs putting back together and compliance

After looking at pics over net i originally thought it was just missing few engine bay components that someone had pilfered but i wasn't going to trust a motor that came from Japan not running anyway so was intending to pull it out and have freshened up

Well now that it's here i can see this motor WAS NOT the engine it was running whilst in Japan

My assumption is that this had a pretty wild motor in there and they've pulled that out and just dropped a frame of what looks like a motor in there laughing-smiley-014.gif

No accessories are connected to motor, all bolts are finger tight (the ones that are there anyway hehe), front driveshafts not connected etc etc

You get the idea

The bonnet is a cut down GTST item that they applied pinchweld to over where they cut with grinder and spaced the bonnet catch assembly out with couple nuts inbetween assembly and radiator support laughing-smiley-014.giflaughing-smiley-014.gif

Anyway here's couple pics of it

So i've just started pulling everything out of engine bay tonight as have it booked into mates panel shop next week to get the engine bay fully resprayed back to new condition

Once back i will start cleaning and rebuilding parts to go back in there for compliance

My plan is to buy a front cut to get everything i need to re-assemble this car for compliance and build the motor that is in there now for some performance

On that note it looks as though i just stumbled across some great performance goodies like brand new HKS 2.8 stroker rotating assembly, GReddy camshafts, HKS oil pump, GReddy intake plenum, HKS cam gears etc etc for it so should end up being lil potent piece of machinery once done. Still staying with a twin turbo setup though, not interested on going big single turbo

Already have Nismo dash and set of TEIN coil overs to fit in it, think i will get TEINS reco'd before fitting though

Anyone know good place to get this done?

This is my overall plan of attack for this build

Strip engine bay out for respray

Refurbish everything in engine bay as it goes back in

Buy running front cut to use complete drivetrain including box for compliance

Once complied pull complete trim out of car and send back to panel shop to get complete inside out respray

Drop trim into mates trim shop and have retrimmed in original fabric to look brand new (well front seats anyway)

Fit suspension and wheels (Work Meister S1's)

Build new motor and box for fitment

And anything else that comes to mind throughout this ordeal hehe

Anyway that's me for now, new pics coming later today

Started pulling engine bay down

Pulled everything off the front of car and removed all A/C and P/S lines from around radiator support. Pretty much have the motor ready to come out now bar the R/H driveshaft and couple bolts holding the gearbox on

Motor will be out by the weekend (waiting for mate to come round with his engine crane) and then i will finish pulling the rest of the lines out

Much easier to get these out once motor is removed than try and do them now

Here's pics of what she looks like now

EDIT

Also ordered the new numberplates for this car, i used to have these plates on the original GTR i had when i was in NSW but now that i'm in Qld had to pay a quite hefty fee to have these once again

But damn they suit these cars down to a tee IMO

I bought a GTR front cut today so hopefully will have that here in shed within next few days, not going to start pulling anything out of that until this gets back from getting the bay sprayed though

Going to use as a source to see where the hell everything goes back in as geez there's some stuff crammed into these engine bays laughing-smiley-014.gif

hey man looking good but damn you've gone to alot of trouble to paint the engine bay, getting that plennum off and turbo side off in the car would have been a mission, its so much easier to pull the whole motor out. Anyway good luck and im sure itll look shmick when its done :)

Progress has been slow due to expanding business but now have the engine out and have degreased the engine bay and it cleaned up pretty well. I won't be respraying the bay now as i need to have this thing running within next month so will now be concentrating at getting the motor from cut into the bay and fill with new oils etc and get running

From there it will go straight into panel shop for complete respray

Here's couple pics, 1 of engine bay way it is as of this morning all clean, the front cut with motor that's going in and the last one is new wheels i am buying for the beast :)

Just quick update

Wheels arrived this week so thought i'd dummy them up to see how they look

They measure 18x10 with a +22 offset

Chris - yeah mate she's getting pulled down for complete respray, just not doing engine bay at this time but rest of car will be done inside out

As for cut mate will give you call to find out what you want off it etc as there is heaps of parts left over that i don't need

Scottie - these are the only wheels i have seen for GTR that i like besides the Nismo LM GT4's :)

KUDOS to Chris Rogers today, he came around and gave me hand getting the engine in and on its mounts today (plus he got to take home some more parts for his project  )

So anyway once we got motor in i went about connecting everything else up and trying to figure out the jigsay puzzle i made for myself

So now motor/box is in on mounts, all brake lines are in and connected, all turbo plumbing is all connected to the radiator support panel (just intercooler not in yet), tailshaft all bolted up and attessa lines all in and connected - time for some

All that's left to do now is put 2 front driveshafts in, fill her full of oils, fit new exhaust and fire her up

Havn't put radiator in yet either as sending car to workshop to have it's 100k service done so it would need to come out for new water pump etc so will get workshop to also bleed all lines and fill her full of the good stuff and do a general check over everything and replace any worn parts like CV boots etc ready for compliance

Here's couple pics way it is now

She's starting to take shape now, now for me to go straighten my back out :rofl2:

What exactly you need pic of mate, will take one for you

Just ordered and paid for my new exhaust system from Just Jap Racing - Gotta support our sponsors

Ended up getting a full HKS exhaust system for car as LOVE the sound these systems put out

Here's couple pics of system from Just Japs site

HKS Front Pipes

Going to leave the cat until i talk with Dan from Elite Racing as they will be installing this system whilst it's in there getting other work done

shot of the front left where all the piping goes through the restrictor box in the guard to the air box. I figure the return pipe fits into that in some way but I am not sure how the restrictor box works/plumbs in.

Anyone who used to get work done at Advan Performance in Sydney would probably recognise this car, it used to get a LOT of attention as it just screamed CLEAN with brand new paint/wheels etc etc

I vaguelly remember this car.... pretty sure i pulled the motor out of it when the engine went. Was quite a few years ago now though wasnt it? Were we still at Silverwater or had we moved to Auburn?

Hey Brad, been long time

I believe it was you and Mark who did most of work on old one and was when you were in Silverwater

We're talking around maybe 6 years ago now (christ! that long ago)

This one would be coming to Advan as well if i still lived in Sydney

Had a hickup with exhaust, apparently there is no Hi Power exhausts currently available and there's around 2 month wait as there on back order so i'm going to have talk with Elite today and see what there exhausts costs and more importantly what they sound like as i'm not huge fan of other exhausts i've currently heard. Will throw Blitz NUR exhaust on if i have to just to get me buy until Hi Powers come available again

Car is now ready and waiting for tilt tray to come pick it up and take down to Elite, why can't towing companies ever be on time :whistling:

Should be all up and running very soon now
