I purchased my alloy radiator and apexi avcr from the states. They got here fairly quickly and hassle free. Although freight is kinda pricey if you want things shipped faster...

I think it depends on what you're buying and how much it costs. I've never bought anything really big or expensive from the u.s. before so i'm not certain how import duties and other cost factors etc are calculated.

shipping calculator on fleabay says 200$ for delivery ..thats for 4 shock absorbers..Seems a bit rich..

stuff for hondas is really cheap over there, a door lock actuator Honda quoted me 195$ or 320$ fitted i can get from the states for 25$ shipping 20$ all up cost me $46.30

Also found greddy style plenums for $200

Actually, i purchased my greddy style plenum from there as well. I remember the freight cost being quite astronomical. As well as for the radiator. I don't think i really cared at the time as i wanted those parts quickly because i needed my mechanic to finish my job asap.

bear in mind things like struts won't go air mail. I do a fair bit of business with two US companies and have no issue with shipping. as for costs $200 is about right, my average big box is $300 or so.

i bought a set of swaybars for my car from the states, the shipping itself was fairly quick

it's just the vendor that was dodgey, there were soooo many complaints about him on the car forum he operated on lol it's a small miracle I actually got my parts & what I ordered so definitely do your research on who you're buying from

Work on the KISS system, don't make it to complicated and you will find it's a great place to deal. I buy heaps of parts from the states. In a lot of cases the items are by far cheaper than buying them here, so some of the freight cost doesn't matter.

For an example, I wanted to get 6 injectors cleaned in Australia and they were going to cost me $35.00 each x 6 = $210.00, yet I found a complete set in USA, which included new seals, pintle caps, hoses & clips, connectors with pigtail, solder & shrink wrap and flow matched to 1% landed in Australia including the postage for AU$215.00.

Just keep the shipment cost below AU$1000.00 and then it will cruise through customs FREE, anything over $1000.00 will attract duty & tax etc etc etc. If you can organise larger items to be broken down into under $1000.00 lots, do it, because you can have any number of parcels so long as the value stated on the declaration is under AU$1000.00.

Cheers, D
