So I Went To Roll My Arches Today To Fit My Fat Rims... Wanna See My Rust?

Recommended Posts

So, a picture says a thousand words, so here it is.

As you can (hopefully) see is I've got a little bit of an old repair thats shown up when we rolled the guards. When I say shown up, I mean the whole arch has fallen apart. THis is in essence a track car (with some daily stuff). So, I was thinking of just cutting the arches out and adding some torana style bolt on flares (I know that are not to everyones tastes, however they'll fix the issues nicely).. and I had a tori for ages. I only want something thats 20 - 25mm..

THe usual searches have churned out some outdated links.... Does anyone know where I can source some??

not as bad as i expected to see actually. get rid of that bog and you will go faster on the track :P

but seriously if you want something bolt-on i saw some bolt ons for an R33 on Ebay, kinda like the 400R ones. but i just looked and i cant find em again sry :(

Thanks heaps guys but I got a hold of just jap who had a carbon set in stock - really helpful :)

Being a paid-up member, did you ask for discount? Darron's back from Hols.

  • 3 weeks later...

I had to return the flares as they were just asthetic, didn't actually open up any room for my wheels.

So, its cutting and glassing I'm afraid. Pics to come :)

    • Just put a Haltech in it. Be aware that there is little extra speed available, so almost any money spent on NA "tuning" is wasted. Far better to spend on brakes, suspension, etc. Be also aware that the auto will die behind a turbo, so a manual swap is not a bad idea. Be aware that parts for these tasks are becoming very difficult to find.
    • Another thing I would do if I was studying mechanical engineering   Eh if I won the lotto I’d do it. Otherwise yeah just a day dream.
    • My son has an R34 gt auto. I'm looking at methods on how to tune it with the view to be able to further tune it down the track when he is off his P,a and can go turbo. The issue is the 98 gt auto has a seperate TCM and is not compatible with swapping out a gtt auto nistuned pcm ( from what I have read so far ) Please if anyone has info on what to do here I would much appreciate. Realise that some options include manual swap, manualised valve body. Just hoping there is a more direct running option I haven't been able to find. Thanks in advance.
    • Hi Everyone, I did 4.11 gears in my 34 GTR and only thing that remains is to fix the speedo reading (it reads about 15% higher) using the R33 GTR speedo sensor. Few questions:   1. Does the R33 speedo sensor fit right in to the 6sp getrag? I read it does but wanted to confirm because the speedo sensors between 33 and 34 look quite different   2. The connector on the 33 speedo sensor will not plug into the connector on the getrag. Do I just need to wire the pins together manually?  See pic: https://imgur.com/a/NTDzFe8
