Tonkachow
Just curious at how the Turbo M35 car's are handling the heat at the moment. Is anyone struggling in any areas. Air con keeping up. Diff and oil temp behaving as expected or worse etc. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/352941-curious/ Share on other sites
Paramour
Mines not as pokey as it normally is, but expected. . AC could do with a regas, has anyone needed to regas their M35 at all. . Sunkist
mines on stands with no turbo playing in the flooded water hahah Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/352941-curious/#findComment-5657204 Share on other sites
ironpaw
Definitely less pokey. AC is fine since it was regassed just before I bought the car. Even with the hdi intercooler the heat really takes the oomph out of the engine. The difference was very discernible when we had the hot days early last week and the cooler last couple of days. scotty nm35
The stock ecu drops timing out heavily on hot days and ramps up the fuel, its what Nissan had to do to save an engine that's being thrashed on a hot day. If you can lower the intake temp you wont notice it as much. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/352941-curious/#findComment-5657247 Share on other sites

ironpaw
So was the bigger intercooler suppose to help with the hot weather? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/352941-curious/#findComment-5657483 Share on other sites
66yostagea
You can try a cooling spray on the IC. Jaycar have a kit. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/352941-curious/#findComment-5657502 Share on other sites
Tonkachow
Cool. So nothing really out of the ordinary. Heat reduction is def one of the biggest challenges I often think about more then most mods in cars. Jetwreck
So was the bigger intercooler suppose to help with the hot weather? with the last 6-7 day's we have had in Sydney it would not matter what IC you had....you would still be see a considerable change in drivability!.....I'm just glad I no longer have my standard one! scotty nm35
You can try a cooling spray on the IC. Jaycar have a kit. On M35's the intake air temp sensor is in the AFM. You could put ice in the intercooler and the ECU would still see the same temperature. Ice in the airbox would work... Dunc
Ice might have moisture related issues.. dry ice on the other hand... Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/352941-curious/#findComment-5657730 Share on other sites
Daleo
Except the resulting release of co2 as the dry ice melts... Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/352941-curious/#findComment-5657741 Share on other sites
PN-Mad
Last time I checked dry ice made CO2... not combustible- but cold! So it would prob make a good combustion extinguisher! Maybe one of those massive dry ice chamber/intercoolers that the dyno cars/drag cars run!!! Do they sell a Temperature Cut defender...? It looks like it is in the T/B. I could be wrong, but if this is so a spray unit on the fmic would help in the C34s.
