Hey People I am trying to get rid of a few little problems that my R33 is having at the moment. Just so we know what we are dealing with, its an R33 Gts-t Series 1.5 it is fairly stock at the moment but does have a front mount, split dump pipe, 3inch front pipe, hi flow cat, 3.5 inch cat back, Turbo smart boost T (running 11 PSI) , Copper NGK plugs gapped at .8, BMC panel filter and a walbro pump.

Problems:

1. Missing, this started to happen after the massive rains that we had in Melb on Friday night i was driving home threw lavo and did not see the massive amount of water across the road i hit the water and almost instantly the car started to miss, I got threw the puddle and pulled over everything seemed ok. the miss went away after a few seconds and all seemed ok. as i was going onto the free way I put my foot down and the car revved as usual but when it hit 5,000 rpm it was lke it was on the limiter. it would not go past 5k and missed very badly. the next morning i went to work and the car was fine until I was 200m from work and it would not hold idle and would not rev past 2K. After work i pulled out my coil packs and tops of the plugs submersed in water i pulled the panel filter out and there was a pool of water in the bottom of the air box. I mopped up the water and changed my plugs and cleaned the afm the car ran and idled better there is still a miss from 4 - 5.5k but it will rev threw this.

2. Diff, Lately my diff has decided to switch between an LSD and a single as it likes. I always believed that if this happens you change the diff oil and a good chance it will come back but after talking to a mate he says that this is a wast of time and that I should shim it as well as changing the oil because oil buy its self wont do a thing. do you guys agree with him?

Im sure that there are more but I just cant think at the moment so ill add them as i go along LOL, Hopefully you guys can help me. Thanks!!

1. check that your air filter and AFM arent wet. but the most likely is water got into your coil packs somehow. get to your spark plugs and make sure there isnt any water in there.

2. a re-shim will more than likely fix this. is it aftermarket or stock?

a lot of guys re-shim their diff and get a few weeks of a good lock then it ends up freeing up later.

i cleaned up all the water and changed the plugs, cleaned my afm and changed my air filter, i also just chucked my mates afm on and it made no difference im thinking about getting some new coil packs (kinda needed them anyway) and see if this helps

a few weeks good lock out of it? might be worth spending the cash on a 2 way and not having to worry about it any more?

Thanks a lot for your input mate!

try swapping CAS's as well (check timing before and after on both cars though). try and eliminate everything related to ignition. also try unplugging each coil pack one at a time to see which one is dropping a cylinder. so, unplug one and if there is no change in the way the car idles then thats the faulty one. if not - plug it back in and try the next one.

unless you're doing mostly drift work, get a 1.5 way.
