Good to hear Steve, surprising how much you got to remove to respray an engine bay.

Short ratio duffs will help acceleration, but interesting to see how you would go at EC, long straight will test your car's gearing, just keep in mind you might reach the limiter in 6th before turn 1. Would definitely suit Wakefield though....

Where is the SAU track day?

Wakefield

out of gears around EC?? you pulling my leg? :)

time will tell !

Look, I may be wrong but shortening the gears will reduce your top speed, and since your car will have heaps of power you may find yourself stretching 6th. What speed would you say your previous car has reached down the straight at EC?

another problem is your changing gears like a motor bike so you will loose time with the constant changing.

My supra currently has short gearing (auto tt diff) which is great for quick bursts but im in 5th crossing the line over 400m which kills drag racing times. I havent been to EC in my car but i think i'd run out of gears before turn one too.

Hey Guys,

been flat out with work and trying to get the bastard ready for the track day saturday week. Finally got the motor in today with gearbox

but ran into a little hurdle in that the rear of the pleum is hitting the clutch cylinder arrrgggghhhhhhhh. Not keen on sheering the plenum down - any ideas anyone? It actually looks like its getting somewhere again :)

Final gearing, looking at some footage of other cars, 250km/h is about the sort of speed i will be aiming for down the main straight of EC. Did't have a speedo in last car so had no idea what speeds i was doing :)

Mechanic is confident i will not run out of revs - i think he is going to bump up the rev limiter :P

Cheers

Steve

Some pics of the motor in the car, going in tomoz to finish off the wiring, fuel setup and hopefully pipework !

Been waiting for this to pop up :)

mint car!

But.......Will the cage pass CAMS requirements for Superlap/WTAC?

I dont think this event is CAMS affiliated? correct me if im wrong - so would there be cams scrutineers out on patrol?? Is there a particular part of the cage that concerns you? I guess being a bolt in cage it can always be removed trackside worst case scenario and therefore satisfy the first part of sentence :nyaanyaa:

Roll Cage

• Vehicles are not required to be fitted with a roll cage, however it is recommended. If a roll cage is fitted it must comply with Schedule J of Cams General Requirements for Cars and Drivers, in the Cams Manual for Motorsport.

Not something im really worrying to much about at the moment as i dont particapate in Cams events and WTAC was pretty laid back with scrutineering last year.

Car Update:

FKN took 8 hours to come up with a solution for the rubbing of the plenum with the clutch slave cylinder yesterday - Anyway i have penciled in a tune for this Thurs - so i will be cutting it very very fine as there is still a huge to-do-list :P

Some truck-sized rubber also turned up

I dont know of any jap bolt in cages that meet the requirements.

You might be ok because yours doesnt have the stupid "S" bend around the dash like most of them do.

A nugget she has been!

Been a long time coming and i have decided to take a different approach to the old girl. The emotional rolercoaster that you go through trying to meet deadlines and the pressure that everyone is under is just not worth it! Although it would of been ideal to have a couple of months testing under the belt for WTAC it has come down to less then the amount of fingers you can count on one hand.

I really appriciate the effort the lads make at http://www.the-lowdown.com/

this day primarily was to put back the intercooler hose that blew off after each session (arghhhhh) and run in the new motor which was tuned the night before by Haltech ( I cant speak highly enough of the customer service and the extra effort these guys put in) and to make sure that the car behaved to our expectations. It made comfortable 400awkw at 22psi on E-flex (internal map sensor limit) but bc i had misplaced the 3 bar map sensor the tuning stopped here.

Further testing last thurs, saw me have the biggest grin as things are slowly progressing. i had set a pb at wakefield which i was stoked about but what was really impressive was it was done on a detuned 340awkw, off the trailor with less then 10 degrees ambient temps on shagged 265 semi's . i was about a second of the pace by a certain someone that now runs Trackschool :P

a couple of 1:04s held up shows that i will need to pull up my socks come game day!

Cant wait to try the new 295 Hancooks z221'a, play around with suspension, put diffusers on and set some more PB's and take it to those bloody EMO's :P

Haha, i don't miss it.

There's an ugly rumour going round, that Mr Bozman was driving your car round Wakie.

This rumour is true, he runs Trackschool out there now and had a session in my car.

The only thing ugly was my driving and the fact he was cruising and i was giving 110%

and was still not keeping up :P

awesome build mate i have seen all the effort that has gone into this

steve has been just as busy on my car as his own

thanks for your help mate

BRING ON SUPERLAP

No Probs whatsoever brother !!!

i have been put in charge of eye candy for 2011 WTAC!!!!

i think i went overboard :P
