not sure if anyone else has noticed this or if its just my car, but every time I stall it, taking off ( which does happen occasionally- OS 1-5 gearset,OS solid centre triple and 272 cams ) if I stall it, and start it again without turning the ignition off, the ABS and AWD lights come and I'm in RWD :woot: which is interesting. So then I just have to stop and turn the car off completely and then when I start it up again everythings normal.

Anyone else noticed this?? try it and see if its just me? easy way to get RWD

correct - all of them 32 to 34 will go into error mode if the wheels are turning when the car starts.

however....it is not a "safe" rwd mode for 33 or 34, you will still wear the transfer case clutch packs out quickly. It is fine in an r32.

yeah I surpose the transfer is still primed

Correct, unless you follow the procedure outlined in the workshop manual, which I have posted up a few times.

I have put a switch in my centre console for 2WD and I drive around every day in 2WD (have pretty much done so since a couple of weeks before Powercruise last year) with no dramas whatsoever, my 4WD still works perfectly too.

lol, sorry to rain on the discovery trip but I remember back in 2002 doing the key off/key on trick while rolling in 32s to get RWD easily. it disables RWD and ABS. reason is the sensors self check when the ecu boots up and if they are moving it fails the check so goings into a fault and disables ABS and 4WD. however as soon as you come to a complete stop it will complete the sensor check and go back into AWD/ABS. so it only remains in RWD whilst the car is still moving. good fun for easy burnouts back in the day but as duncan pointed out it's a no-no in R33/R34. Fine for R32 though. Well I guess I thought it was cool when I learned the trick 10 years ago, probably so did some Japanese guy when he learnt 10 years before me it back in 1989.... :)
