Ok guys heres the story.

A few months ago i had a pretty stock R32 GTR.

Only mods where the exhaust, 33GTR N1 Turbos (not the BB type Garrett 2860-7) and a Boost controller. I Took it to the 1/4 mile and ran a best time of 12.997 @ 105mph.

Which i was happy with. Seemed right with those mods.

But then i decided to put a bit of extra stuff in. So i chucked in

2x Garrett 2860-7 turbos

Kelford 272deg cams + head work

Tomei cam gears

PE 750cc injectors

PE Kevlar timing belt

Walbro fuel pump

Tomei fuel rail

Stainless steel manifolds

Apexi dual intake kit

stainless steele radiator

Bee*R launch controller

and a power fc.

Got it all put in and the tuner did a rough Road tune with the PFC. He did suggest however that i get a dynotune. (but the powerfc i bought was already tuned for those turbos)

Now i just got back from the drags and after doing multiple runs, ran a best time of 13.451 @ 102mph. uughh. wtf?

Can anyone help me out?

edit: Hmm just had a quick look. And i found quiet a large split in the intake hose that runs into the intercooler from the turbos.

Which would make sense cos i found i was losing alot of power in the higher rev ranges.

shit...

Iv been driving the car pretty hard all week. hope nothing else have fkd up on it.

I count at least 6 items on your shopping list that were not needed and wouldn't have improved your horsepower.

Get the car on a dyno and have a proper tune done if you want to realise the full potential of your new setup, hoping for the best with a used Power FC that you were told was tuned for a specific type of turbo is a royal gamble.

+1 cams too big.

Realistically It feels more like you have simply tried to tune the car rather than perform any significant upgrate. I see the -7s as a steel wheeled stock turbo, not SIGNIFICANTLY better (people will hate me for the comment) and you already had that as such with the N1 turbos.

The only other power getters I see are the cam gears, manifolds and intake kit. The only one actually doing some work IMO is the cam gears which is negated by the oversized cams. The manifolds and intake kit would yield minimal results at best with the -7s.

All in all I would expect the current setup to be slower than if you had simply added the PFC + camgears.

Not to be a prick or anything, I hope you take the above as constructive and make some minor revisions to your efforts. Goodluck.

srsly... wtf are you doing man?

I'm not after 500hp+ that's why I went with the -7. The 33gtr n1 uses journal bearings which don't spool as fast as the 34 n1's. I swapped the manifolds as it was something I might as well do while the turbos are out anyway.

All I want Is a good balance between response and top end at around 400ps. Which is what I would have thought the -7s and the cams wouldv given me.

And the tune isn't that bad at all for your information. I just got recommended to get it dynotuned to get the most out of the mods. Not because it's going to blow up in my face if I leave it on idle.

-7's a big improvement over the N1's... they're listed as R33 N1's not R34 N1's

cam gears need to be dialed in on a dyno too (as well as a PROPER tune, but that's already been stated)

You ran a 13.0 at 105mph so that's normal for a 32 GTR with an exhaust.

So just tuning those N1 turbos with an aftermarket ECU would have got you good gains.

Since you went all out - then you'll need a tune, especially with those cams. Don't expect anymore overall power from the cams with those turbos, just a shift to higher rev range and less torque.

Yeh im booking it in for a dynotune right now, and just ordered a new pipe to replace the split one. Yeh I dunno. I was just excited to have the car back I guess. So I couldn't help driving it.

So I'm back to driving the bunky around now.

yeah not exactly a good result. my 32 with stock turbos, stock manifolds, stock injectors, stock cams, stock intercooler, basically 100% standard except for a cat back exhaust, 1 bar boost, and a well tuned power FC ran a 12.4 qtr mile. GET IT TUNED asap. it should be mid to high 11s at this point.
