my thoughts are to not worry about any of the stock computer wires etc i am mainly just after the screen that slides out as i love the nice clean look of the screen

i was thinking of buying a full aftermarcket ecu

and a dvd player

and NZ gps unit

that all have outputs which input into that screen

so i wont need the dvd rom and all that other stuff

the tv unit will just be a display receiver that can show data for either gps , or tuning data or dvd

i don want tv etc

will this be simple ?

as with what you would do with any other aftrrmarket screens etc

im sure the screen can be rewired input wise so that it gets power and a signal in ?

if not i will buy a simialer sized screen that i can custom mount onto the same mchanical lift that the stock one has

yes you could probably get signal to power on, but im pretty sure the screen operates from "memory" off the GPS Rom and the Unit in the boot..

If you wanted to give it a go though I know someone with a centre TV console, DVD Rom, TV unit and probably all the wiring to go with it!

hey man in this thread

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/203961-stagea-series-2-m35-digital-tv-upgrade/page__st__80

you said you did a m35 tv unti install did ur stagea come with or without the stock tv

as mine doesnt and im looking at what i need to instal a stagea stock tv dash unit and get it working in english etc

or did u just have the stock unit and get a english conversion for it?

Your best option is to get the pop up mechanism that the tv bolts to from a wreck and put and aftermarket screen in there. Then the back of the screen will bolt up into the back of your dash once you take the glovebox out.

Or another way to get picture into the factory screen is to use the factory tv tuner because it does all the converting from RCA for you through an AUX input.

- two real words here. forget about it (sorry 3 words.)

the mechanisms are 6.9" screens. they are fully reliant on the DVD rom to operate.

the OEM screen is a 3 input SOFTWARE driven screen. when the DVD ROM starts it writes to the screen and sets the input to RGB mode - pressing the TV swith sets it to split mode where the second input is activated and the RGM does the overlays. reverse camera is the 3rd input.

all are data driven there is NO physical input of the rear of the screen.

as for retro fitting one - up to you I still say no. to do it properly is a harness/cluster swap. non screen cars have nothing there and the cluster will not support the screen if the car did not have it originally..

if you were going to do this my suggestion would be to find the popup mech only and find a suitable LCD screen. whilst you are atit find a suitable touch overlay and set it up as a touch screen

well ill just do a custom install onto the factory centre console i just want to find that whole centre console unit

and ill see what i can do with the screen give it to the good old dad seing that his company repairs lcds, plasma , home theatres computers etc
