Hello people,

Heres the situation, I recently finished a turbo conversion on my 4 door R33. Proud owner of a T3/T4, high mounted, externally gated hairdryer. Also recently installed a budget EBC.

I have been prowling the net for a while now and as usuall I have found a shite load of info, most of which is contradictory to the other. SO I am now cutting to the chase and asking the pros, here are my questions.

1. I have been told that the standard ECU on the R33 is only good for 17psi, is this true?

2. What is the cheapest, quickest way to get this turbo running efficiently at around 20-22psi? Can it be done for under $500?

Appreciate any light that can be shed.

The standard ECU is no good for anything other than the factory turbo. Even then, benefits of a tune are huge.

YOU MUST do the following:

ECU & Tune - 1300-2000

Injectors - 700

AFM - 350

Intercooler kit - 650-800

And then things like

Clutch - 1200

There is no chance you will be doing anything for $500, and driving it around even as it is now is ridiculously silly.

Its probably going to cost you around 3.5-4k. $500 is impossible

Whoever you get your "advise" from, stop listening to them as they are clueless.

I think you have been doing your research in the wrong places mate. Pretty much what Ash said, costs vary depending on what you get and if you get it second-hand. $500 is not the budget you should be looking for. I would not drive it around as you have it now, I would be returning it to stock until you have done the correct supporting mods.

lurk the for sale on here and see if you can get a 2nd hand Apexi Power FC, get it dyno tuned, then you'll be laughing.

Injectors, just get brand new ones, no point stuffing around with 2nd hand ones IMO, set of 6 nismo 750cc injectors will set you back about $1k and they'll be good for heaps of power.

AFM is a must if you want more than 200kw. (I think the one you want is a z32? someone confirm that)

Intercooler kit - Check out Plazmaman; good gear, australian made and decent price too.

Oh god not ANOTHER one of these stock ECU threads.

+1 i swear people ask dumb questions to get their post count up.

where the hell did you get the idea to just wack a high mount and turbo on. first thing is first

1. AFTERMARKET ECU

2. LARGER INJECTORS (750CC)

3. BIGGER FUEL PUMP (BOSH 044)

4. IF USING A POWER FC OR ECU WITHOUT MAP SENSORS YOU NEED Z32 AFM

they are just your basic supporting mods. and please dont ask what tuner to use speak to at least 4 tuners see what they prefer to use and then take your pick they all have their pros and cons
