Urgggghh.... V8 Supercars. What was watchable a few years ago has turned into a dreary try-hard mess that seems to hold itself on a pedestal. Me thinks they're maybe so used to living in a bubble they're actually believing their own propoganda.

This is how I watch it these days; I record it, then replay when convenient and listen to Crompley's pre-race garble. Once the first lap is complete I click the recording forward in 10 minute intervals. If I don't see anything of interest between clicks, I just keep clicking to the end! I seldom have to rewind to watch anything of interest, and I can typically compact the entire qualy and race into less that 15 minutes viewing time.

Bathurst is different however, that is always a great entire day, filled with banter and booze :)

I am a bit the same. Cant watch it live any more. Too much filler no killer. The over blown hour plus long intros & all the shite they broadcast is hopeless. Glad they canned the shootouts too.

Cromley is good value. Has been for years. If you bought Chevrons volume four (?) of the old ATCC DVD's you would have got to hear him at Oran Park circa 1983. Gold that is, as is Moffat's fan friendly demeanour.

BTW what did lowndes do to ingall?

Lowndes had been practicing on GT5 all summer, and tried the old overtake 3 cars up the inside under brakes and just bounce off them and around the corner. I recognise the exact move, I pulled it off in the last corner of the GT500 race at Fuji last night myself.

Top points for Holdsworth & Davison punching on in the pits after the race.

But how come Whincup gets away with punting Bargs when Courtney doesn't?

Easy, no-one likes courtney  or bargs for that matter

BTW could anyone spot adu dhabi on a map?

Wasnt Longhurst vs Morris quality.

"There was a bit of push and shove," Holdsworth said

"I went up and asked for an apology because he took me out, but he wouldn't give me one. I told him what I thought of him and he pushed me and it got a bit ugly.

Which I guess means it looked like two girls going at it with handbags.

gold! I know holdsworth a bit and he seems ok. can't see him winning a decent fight though. lol.

and yeah agree it was a bit iffy that whinecup didn't get the same penalty for the same infraction. it looked pretty clear cut and they had just handed out a drive through for the same kind of offence. should have been a no-brainer but they seem to be a bit light handed when it comes to certain drivers.

spotting abu dhabi on a map is like trying to spot a spectator in the stands....

agree with benno about the live coverage. I watch it on fox (speed). so much better. the funny thing is due to CH7 pumping in so many ads speed have their own commentator who takes over for the bits that ch7 were on extended ad breaks. that's the main reason I can't stand to watch it live is all the bloody ads. I quite like cromley and he was not a bad steerer either (back in the day) and I am a bit of a skaife fan (yes I know I will be going to hell) and he usually has something intelligent to say. he has forgotten more about aus touring car racing that most will ever know having been in the game as a mechanic, driver, owner, manager, etc since he was a teenager.

I hardly watched any races in 2010 but speed replayed the whole series over december and jan this year so I caught up. there was actually a few good races in the bunch I reckon.

and yes, there is not much you could do to spoil bathurst. it's always a top race. you need some massive concentration to be able to drive HARD around that place lap after lap and still make it home.

So its agreed, Bathurst = Good

rest of the championship = shit

I did like bathurst more when it wasnt a championship round, so everybody wanted to win, not just get it to the finish and get a few points

I watched it in preference to doing gardening with an epic hangover.

Did wonder, as has been pointed out, just how big Courtney's surge tank / collector is as he's mentioned it was on it for 3 laps, skaife/cromley mention at full pace they drain 4.2L per lap, thats one big surge tank.

yeah it certainly is a mystery how he managed to make it that far when the other cars who stopped at the time he did had to pull in with 2 or 3 laps to go and he was at front running pace. like I said he must have the worlds biggest surge tank and fuel lines that circumnavigate the car about a dozen times before getting from tank to engine.

They used to do that in NASCAR, have a 2.5" "fuel line" that went round the car. When the tech inspectors were going to measure to fuel capacity the team would fill the tank with tennis balls so it came to just under what was required.

They obviously had a Ford fuel gauge sender in it, they seem to tell you they are empty, yet you have only used 56L out of a 68L tank. lol!

    • Hello, sorry for being late to join the discussion, but my clock just died on me.   Ive tried to look at Michaels digital clock repair.docx and it doesnt work maybe the file has expired.   Please let me know if you can re upload it or take some youtube videos to show us how to get the clock installed? thanks
    • I thought that might be the case, thats what I'll start saving for. Thanks for the info
    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
