Eh Guy's,

Un fortunately my car needs a new gearbox.

I happened late one night last week after work when I was testing a chipped ecu by using a g-tec meter. I launched and went to change to second and it didn't wanna go in so I backed off and tried again. It went into gear although wen I took my foot off the clutch all i could hear was a loud rattleing sound coming from my gear box :)

I was happy with the chip though, I managed to get 0-100 in 5.2 secs wit the chip and consistant 5.9's without it.

Now im up for $500 for another box plus labour :)

take it easy

Mark

it always hurts to hear something like that happen... bad luck mate

you should go nuts with the next one with a trans cooler etc. to make sure it survives those launches. i recently put a trans cooler on my auto gearbox... $80 from supercheap and only took about an hour to fit and connect!

The gearbox in the R33 n/a is the same as the R32 GTS-T box actually.. so may actually be useful if its manual.

Thats bad luck Mark. Guess it wasn't feeling to healthy after you said it seemed better :D

Least its only only the RB20 box and not an RB25det one.. the r33 ones are like around $2k for one!

transmition cooler ehh.

sounds like a great idea!

did u fit it yourself???

thanx for the advice mate

:D

my dad and i fitted it.

very easy actually i didn't have to do much.

i put it in the drivers side intake area in the front bar (opposite side to the intercooler)

the one i bought came with the cooler, hoses, clamps, and some cable ties.

i had 2 metal brackets lying around the garage, and bent these into an "L" chape so that one end could bolt to the top of the compartment, and the long ends could hang for the cooler to attach to.

- took out the battery and drilled 2 holes under it to bold the top end of the brace to

- secured them with nut/bolt each

- placed the cooler in front of the hanging ends of the brace, then used the supplied cable ties to attach it. they are some special sort of ties that are designed for this. they run through the fins

- attached hoses to intake and exit side of cooler

the trannie fluid enters and exits the radiator down the bottom on the drivers side

- i loostened one hose at both ends, then removed it and replaced one end with the intake, and one end with the exit of the trannie cooler

- added about 500mL of trannie fluid to accomodate extra capacity

presto!
