to be honset, about $100 each is about what's normal for a spherical bearing of that size/type. so if it does turn out to be the bearing then that price is certainly not too unreasonable.

Marko I had the same problem with the same shocks. I got rid of the pillow balls and just used normal spring hats, that sorted the knock. Then one of them started to knock again but this time due to a leak. Heasman's should be able to dyno them to see if they're working ok, if they are the 32 position ones we found on mine that only the last 16 positions worked.

thanks for the feedback mark - what brand spring hats did u use?

maybe it is the spherical bearings after all...does anyone know once spherical bearings make noise if they should feel loose & sloppy? mine do feel reasonably tight but nothing like the new bearings i felt @ cbc

sorry to drag up an old thread, did you find the cause of this noise?

i recently fitted a set of coilovers to my 34gtr and they were kniocking like crazy! sounded exactly like flogged out upper bearings.. however there is no play in the top bearing, shock is in good condition.

starting to think that due to there being no rubber insulation anywhere in these toda coilovers.. could this knocking/rattling noise just be transfered road noise?

yes - the casue was the bearings in the top hat which were over $100 each to replace

open boot, with hand/fingers on top of shock nut, bounce the car. you will be able to feel it. if it has no movement between the shock shaft and the body, its the valve in the shock, if it moves, theres you noise. new bearing needed. teleflex should have.
