I have a set of ti rods but if i did not i would probably be going with these trick titanium rods..for the price i dont think they can be beaten , cheaper than pauter or pankl and still have exceptional quality and finish.

Now i just wish DART would manufacture an aftermarket tall deck RB based block that could be taken out to 91mm with .250 cylinder wall thickness.

I mean if they already produce a stronger aftermarket honda block then surely to god they can do an almighty RB26 based block.

At the same time if they would take the SR20VE vvl head design and apply the same technology to a absolute killer RB head .

Mmmmm ...my ultimate would be 91mm bore & 91mm stroke = 3.55L RB35VETT , now just give me a variable valve timing & variable valve lift (same as v-tec) mega head, with a pair of borg warner efr's.

Ohh i think a hollinger would have to be on the cards to cope with the above combolaugh.gif

At 400+ grams those Trick rods are fairly heavy.

I picked up a big block Ti rod once and i thought it was made of plastic it was that light!

Im pretty sure an RB30 Ti rod is under 300grams. I will need someone to confirm though *cough*

My Ultimate engine combo keeps changing every time i read this thread now :)

See my post re Bullet's Billet block.

the problem with a tall deck mega strong cast iron block would be the massive weight increse.

DART's 9.2" Deck "clevor" block is something like 30-40kgs heavier than a standard Cleveland block and around 20kgs heavier than Fords Nascar cleveland block and thats at standard deck height the 9.5" deck blocks are heavier again.

But if they did do a 91mm bore block I would run something silly like a 65mm stroke crank, super light rods and pistons and spin the bitch to 12,000+rpm using a large port billet 5 valve head.

I just finished porting a p12 20v head for a sr20

Went to the dyno it made 400 at the wheels at 8800

Turbo was to small but it didnt stop pulling till after 9

i watched a documentary on the bugatti veyron - that is a beast & a real marvel at cutting technology

titanium rods, w16 with 2 banks, 10 radiators, 20k to change tyres lol - sorry off topic but that engine would have to qualify as the best imo quad turbo

back onto rb's :)

-10's are fantastic, so is the rips racing sump kit!

  • 2 weeks later...

I've been thinking about this a fair bit lately aswell. Well since I bought my car 2 years ago lol. Anyway at the moment I think mine would look something like this

- 26/30

- Nitto 3.2 stroker kit

- HKS V-Cam for inlet side. Not sure what people do on exhaust side when running V-Cam

- Full Race twinscroll manifold

- BorgWarner EFR Series turbo. 7670 i think it's called. Good for 700hp.

- Dry Sump

- Hollinger

mmm one day...

If i were going to go to that trouble I would throw the ford engine in the harbour and grab the nissan 4.8 with a brian crower stroker kit.

Neither of them address the thread topic however.

Its about RB engines, You know, the ones that actually bolt in to skylines.

RB48 stroker...that would be nuts. You could run a T70 or T88 on that. Anyone put the 4.8 into a skyline?

What Defines an RB ?

Are we talking OEM Head and Cylinder Castings ?

Stock Displacement ?

We need scope before you can really start spending imaginary money !

I took it as RB block and head. Whatever you do to it is fair game?

Yeah I agree.

Fineline,

Here is the link as per our discussion at BNR the other night.

If I recall correctly they are in the 11k region. Twas posted up a while ago and someone got in contact with them re cost. Pretty expensive but if we're talking the ultimate RB then surely that has to be included.

They should have used their smarts and built a billet 30 block that would bolt directly to the gtr sump....Winnah!

You need to put liners in the alloy block anyway so may as well make a spacer and re-create a high deck but over 3L displacement.

Thats the RB48DET in action. Modified 4.8 litre with turbo setup. Patrol trucks running 12 second quarters up hill. That is the ultimate RB. Just pop that in a GTR - invincible.

Sadly it isnt an rb. Have you seen one in the flesh, they stand about 150/200 mil taller than the good old rb engine. Would be a bear to fit in a skyline.

In saying that it could probably be done. I ran in to a guy with an xr6 turbo ford engine in a 33 a while back. They are a big engine too. Bonnet mods required.
