Have just bought a 2002 V35 3.5ltr 350GT-8 and it drives smooth and changes gears in auto and paddle shift mode beautifully, but it sound rattly. Even when I turn the engine off and roll down a hill. Seems mechanical.

Jacked up the car and put into drive and the rattle comes directly on the start of the driveshaft after the auto gearbox.

Any ideas?

check the uni joints in the tail shaft. see if there is some play in there

also the yoke out of the back of the transmission.

and i think there is a bearing halfway down the tailshaft, make sure that doesnt need replacing.

also check the transmission mount

doesnt sound like something a transmission would make.

just drop the tailshaft and see if the noise is coming from the transmission. put it in neutral and try to turn the yoke. rattle things around. might be something easy like a loose bolt
