Anyone Else Struggle With The Practicality Of Owning A Gtr?

Rowdy, thx for the encouragement to get rid of my skirt, might just do that:)

I thought I would give the GTR some TLC this morning and it reminded me of a married couple. At times, we dont really have a good look over our partner, inside and out. Sometimes, we lose focus on why we love them so much, not because its not there anymore, but because we dont give it the time to have a good look over them.

Well, this morning I spent some time going over the beast, no, not my wife, the GTR!! And f**k Me, I fell in love all over again- So Screw Practicality!!!!!!!!

The build and quality of this thing is amazing and when I give it the TLC that it needs, I see how great the car truly is.

So I am now moving forward looking to add to this beast in anyway I can. Thinking of a nice dark tint and painting my rims black. And then who knows, but hopefully I cant go much further than an already 320KW at the wheels,35,000km old N1 Engine;)

Thanks for pushing me back into my senses and hope I dont cause any divorces from my above analogy:(

On my second GTR now and couldn't be happier with my decision!!

Sure things can add up but in the end that bit of road out whoop whoop makes it all worth while.

Generally, maintenance is the key with these legends, look after them and they will serve you well for years, just like most other things.

ATS twin plate carbon clutch is the business :whistling:

lighter than my single plate Jim Berry that was in my GTT - probably can hold more power as well

I've gotten use to my R, but titanium exhaust and 12-14kg spring rates, and 2530's don't exactly scream practicality :D but you what, you just get use to it.

There's also something about knowing you're in a car that is SUPREMELY capable. Bucket seats, suspension work and stupid brakes, i think is a fair trade-off for noise and ride quality. You just feel more secure, safer. Well i do anyway :)

Yeh I must admit, when I strain my back as I just have the past few days, makes me want to sell it as it just isnt great when the back is playing up.

Pretty sure it is a short term muscle strain and not a disc problem :)

So I can put up with it.

i have had my BNR34 V-Spec for 4 years now, got it with about 25,000km and now has 127,000km on it. it has been my daily for 4 years now original mods done by Racepace my request was to keep it reliable and streetable. 102,000km later and car is still going strong. i'm so used to the car that i can't drive anything else either it's to slow or doesn't handle as good. honestly i reckon i'll be driving a gtr for the rest of my life.

I wish I could drive mine more often, I am lucky if I drive it once a month and I have had the car for more than 2 years.. I just can't bring myself to drive it around other people in traffic or on short trips, so I only every take her out when I there is an SAU meet or I am heading away for the weekend.

Cars are ment to be driven.

Just drive it, don't worry about others just do it for yourself.

My GTR use to be a daily, but now I have a Corolla and GTR on the weekends / drives during the week after work hours.

Just enjoy it :)

I've had my R34 GTR for almost 3 years now. It's a pain to drive in peak hour traffic compared to the missus' auto runabout. But if I could only own 1 car, I know it would be the GTR. You'd be hard pressed to find such a practical car for the amount of performance you are getting in return. The Italian exotica that cost 10x as much to buy, service, maintain, repair also have 10x less boot space, rear legroom, rear window and blind spot visibility, resistance to keying/theft and yet have the same performance. I don't mind driving my car to shop, parking in the street, etc. I wouldn't do that if I owned a Ferrari. Thank god for easily accessible and modifiable japanese turbo cars.

I drive mine anywhere I need to go!

Can be a pain ATM in peak hour as im trialling a new set of rotors - and they are VERY noisy.

But otherwise I always look forward to turning the key :D

spent 1hour washing and waxing the GTR this morning, so it's in prestine condition all shinny and mirror reflections alround. Ran out of junk food so had to take a quick trip to safeway upon coming out of safeway there was a little kid with a broken leg taking pics of my car. he pleaded with me to take him for a spin and make one of his dream to come true. feeling sorry for him i took him for a 3 minute drive (down the street and back). upon coming back to safeway as he was getting out of the car he started crying, he's waiting dad angrily asked me what did i do to him to make him cry? before i said anything, while wiping his tears away with a smile the boy tells his dad "that was the best few minutes of his life". Beside the performance of driving a GTR times like that makes owing a GTR worthwhile.
