Big enhaust housings mean mega lag on a piston engine car compared to a rotary. A rotary can produce 3 or 4 combustion processes in one rotation whereas a piston engine only one. Having bigger housing on rotary turbos so it holds stable boost high up coz it can produce so much more exhaust gases compared to a piston engine.
