Two of my mates have been done for racing a Green commo ute thats been done up and looks like a nice modified ute, the ute comes up beside them, egg's them on then whoever races them gets pulled over when the ute's starts sounding the sirens and the blue and red lights start flasshing, both my mates lost there licences over racing that ute. I cant believe that the police are going so low as to encourage people to race them by acting like a hoon themselfs in a modified car, let alone the dangers of encouraging people to race at excessive speeds which could end up killing someone, both my friends said if the ute wasn't trying to egg them on they wouldn't have tried to race them. Fair enough they raced they got caught but it's how they got caught that's absolutly ***ced. It pisses me off to think they can get away with such bullshit. And they both got caught on a 60 zone on a very busy raod up here (infront of the caltex servo in marochydore if anyone knows the area ).

It seems the police justify breaking the laws they're enforcing by catching so called hoons doing the exact same thing as the police use as a tatic to catch them. Another friend lost 3 points and got a 150$ speeding fine when an unmarked car pulled us over in my skyline when he was driving, the conversation went something like this...

Cop: how are you tonight sir, have you been drinking blah blah.. ( had to do an rbt and licence check) Can you explain why you where doing 84 in a 60 zone

My mate: I was doing 60k's not 84, the same as every other car around us

Cop: Well i was following you for around 500m and saw you reach speed in the region of 84kmph..

My mate: I was doing 60, maybe 65 at the very most.. the same as every other car on the road.. can you show me the radar gun showing me doing what speed you said i was please

Cop: I dont have to mate, I was following you for a good 500m and you speeds reached up to 84kmph, I sae this on my car's speedo, I get the cars speedo checked regulaly and thats what speed you where doing.

Now that to me is ***cing bullshit, and to make things even wierder the cap said " I'll drop your speed down to 76 so you dont lose all your points and your fine will be $150 instead of $250 "... By the way it was a single cop in an unmarked car vs 4 people in my skyline.

Fortunatly I have never been pulled over in my life for anything at all, not even an rbt, thankfully I haven't because if cops are like this to people in imports that i'll lose my licence...

wow. i just did some drawings for a court case very similar to this to prove that the drawing prepared by the police was inacurate. the difference is he hit a drunk and killed him. obviously more to the story but he looks innocent from here. poor bugger has done the jail time already too. hope it works out for him.

In QLD don't do over 40klms of the speed limits that gets your Lic canned straight away.

In all these stories everyone is doing at least 30klms over the speed limit maybe if people were going a little slower then it would have been different.

Late a night I usually do 20klms below the speed limit, not because of cops, but for the reason that no one is going to be up your arse for it, also can have some fun behind the wheel relax a little etc.

I've done 50klms in roclea and seen a cop car in the side street waiting for someone to come along.

Then again I have also done 190-200klms all the way through the main drag through from sunshine coast to inter brisbane on that road that goes through chremside.

Also have seen a cop car waiting there also I was doing 20klms below the speed limit at that time though.

    • So where is this message group so we can organise another meet? Keen to come along and catchup. Might eventually be in a skyline again next year, but the Mustang will have to do for now. Also need to get the WRX back on the road. Stupid f**king money pit that thing is.
    • Stock equivalent turbo replacement is a bit of a nightmare. The old Hitachi ceramic things were pretty good for their time, but they have primitive, vintage aerodynamics. The only thing they have going for them is a light turbine**, and there are plenty of other light turbine options these days, in both materials and CNC manufacturing methods. So, the old stocker makes absolutely no power at all compared to its physical size and its (not very low) boost threshold and response. ** and the ONLY thing that was good about the ceramic turbine was that it was light. In all other respects it is a nightmare. To get a turbo that is anywhere near equivalent in terms of power capacity (ie, to avoid it being "bigger" and needing tuning/fuelling/etc) you have to physically downsize. And that is not a "stockish" replacement. Doesn't just fit where the old one did. At least a frame size down, probably need a new dump, probably need new inlet and outlet piping made on the compressor side, new hose connections as D said above. I say, if you have to suffer that much work, you might as well do the same work to fit an even bigger (than stock) turbo, have more power (and hence have to do injectors, ECU, etc), and love life, instead of suffering with stock power levels. Or, you get a light highflow from someone like Hypergear. A highflow that has not been pushed too far from stock. There are still modification consequences here though. HG's cores are smaller than the massive Hitachi core, so it is shorter, moves the compressor housing backwards and requires mods to the air side piping. Plus new hoses. Looks stock, mostly fits where the stock one did (with the previous caveats mentioned), makes a bit more power but can be run at stock boost levels and not cause too many ECU problems. But, seriously. It's 2024. Like - 25 years since the R33 came out. It's time to put an ECU in it. I Nistuned my car (on RB20 ECU then later again on the Neo ECU) and it was the single best thing possible for minimal money. Dial out the R&R bullshit, fix up the fuelling and timing to make it more efficient for normal driving (cut fuel consumption by >10%). Nistune is not an option for you unless you change the ECU, so you might as well just do a standalone. it will be worth it. And then you can tune it up to the limits of the injectors and AFM, which is pushing 200rwkW and enjoy some actual squirt, instead of the lazy barge-like motion you get from a stock engine, turbo and management.
