Hey Guys, I am thinking of maybe either Powder Coating my wheels black, or changing them for a new set of rims.

I need some feedback from people that have had theirs powder coated before, or anyone that thinks this is a bad move.

Pic of car as is now, thinking if black rims with a nice dark tint coming up?

Thoughts?

Looks pretty tuff to me. I'd leave it as it is..

Powdercoating can also weaken the wheels if not done properly.

lol...........

First time i've ever heard that.

Powder coating does not get the rims hot enough to change the molecular structure of the alloy. Welding rims is a different story.

Is your brother in Melb? I am not syre as yet, have a mate that knows someone but apparently I know someone now as well:)

If he is in melb, PM me his details and I will call him ASAP.

Thanks Heaps!!

Well gee Al, you're such an expert on everything, if you've never heard that before then surely it can't be true

Like I said, if the powdercoating process is not done properly you can weaken the wheels. CE28's are a lightweight alloy, some places will sand blast the wheels as part of the process = can damage the wheels. Some places use an oven temp way too high during the curing process and overcook it = can weaken the wheels.

Glaze, if you decide to go ahead with powder coating, just make sure you take it to a place that use low temp curing and know what they are doing.
