Hi guys not sure if I'm in the rite section but what ist the difference between rb20 and rb25 stock cams and can you put the 25s in a 20 for a slight power increase just wondering cause I have a set of both but car is getting a 20 put in so chasing free power really

Cheers brenno

RB25DET cams are designed with VCT in mind, and wont work with an RB20. RB26 cams have been fitted to RB20's though. Do a search and you'll come back with plenty of info. 2nd hand stock R32/R33 GTR cams are pretty cheap too when you can find them.

Pretty well every report I've seen of RB26 cams in RB20 they didn't actually run too well, if at all. I thought about it, but it's a fair bit of effort to run like a bag of shit.

The profiles of the lobes are completely different due to the fact that RB26 is solid lifter and RB20 is hydraulic, the ramp rates for the opening/closing of the valves is vastly different.

Don't bother camming an RB20 unless your making BIG power (300 rwkw+). Also if you are going to cam, go custom, don't bother with PON Cams - they're poorly made and I've heard loads of troublesome tales about camming the rb20 with Tomei Pon Cams.

If you want good power gains on your RB20 slap on a Z32 AFM, FMIC, Bigger turbo, bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump, full exhaust, plazmaman plenum and a 6boost turbo manifold. I'm waiting on the plenum and turbo manifold to go in and I should see 280rwkw

    • I'll just leave this here. https://www.adelaidespeakers.com/subwoofers.html TL loading, big power. They sound awesome. This is what I would buy if I was going to try to take the bass away from my floorstanders. Just go with the 12".
    • I'll snap up some photos when I'm back home, in the office today meeting my "in the office" quota. Have 2x Teams calls scheduled in, office culture they reckon.   I've never owned a proper off the shelf sub, I've always made or modified broken ones with Jaycar plate amps and/or car subwoofer drivers. The current (and broken) subwoofer has a proper home driver in it, Dayton driver, thos one https://www.daytonaudio.com/product/118/rss265hf-4-10-reference-hf-subwoofer-4-ohm FS of 25Hz, which is low but not low enough. Yeah, I think they were brought out to the market to compete with SVS. I would love a SVS PB-3000 but they're not cheap, especially after their price hike. From reviews online, it does look like the Tonewinner D6000 would destroy and with good amount of money saved too.
    • yeah, that happens too.  I'm really enjoying 4WDing at the moment, seen a few beautiful spots and want to go explore more of this enormous country.  The 370Z got a clutch LSD in it and a track day, great fun.  Getting the back end sorted out really rejuvenated my enthusiasm for driving it hard, the viscous one is poo especially in such a short and wide chassis.  The VLSD unpredictability was more benign in a long and skinny Skyline.
    • With my pre/power I use a remote trigger cable(3.5mm jack each end). I turn tv on, it turns both on via ARC. Or, just the pre with the remote or its streaming software, turns on both. Not that difficult at all. Obviously,  you would also want to actually update/upgrade over other factors in your life(bills, family, other hobbies, etc)
