I broke my Drag Strip cherry today at Santa Pod in the UK :headbang:

Started off at 14.6 @ 105mph (170kph) and did a best time of 14.08 @ 99mph (missed 4th gear) with a best overall at 14.1 @ 106mph

Heres the slip times

It felt like I was spinning the wheels until 60ft too!

My reaction times are crap and I was constantly wheel spinning though out 1st gear. I'm going back soon to try some 2nd gear starts to avoid traction problems.

I'm running around 220rwkw and didn't alter my car from how it is on the road (tyre pressure, boost etc untouched) and the temp was about 3'c all day (bloody cold)

My "personal" opinion (using 15 races as my own experience) is that if you are using regular street tyres then their is no point in doing a massive smokey burnout. A quick drop of the clutch to scrub the tyres (and remove the water) would be ideal but anything more and you are just wearing them out

If you are using Nitto's or BF Goodrich then sure let it rip to get em nice and sticky.

if your runnin your streets nice an flat ( bout 20 psi) a little spin cleans em off an puts just that lil bit of heat in em, helps stop that anoyin take off spin.

i've found from my extensive ( 2 nites, 10 runs) experience using the handbrake and spoolin up a little is the best way to take off but it's all about what your comfortable with

14.1@106??? There is some serious potentail there! Also, these runs were done in 3deg? Problem is probably not with the car or driver but more with ice on the track!

As for the tyre issue, last time I went to the drags I persisted with a small burnout for most of the day and could not crack 13s. For the last 5 runs I stopped the burnout and got 2 13.9s and a 13.8 (205s@20psi). Something to think about....
