hahah i love it hiep that u call urself a small business owner.

The problem i mainly had was that when i dropped the car off, they wouldnt give me any quoted price or anything. I was a bit worried, however last time i was there, i was charged and excellent rate so thought there was nothin to worry about.

Also Steve, i had the same thing happen to me with the plugs. Back to back dyno runs showed a huge loss in midrange from swithcin the iridims to platniums.

Can someone answer my question about spark plugs? Is it true that iridiums are shit. I dont think this is possible cos so many aftermarket car tuners use them. Anyway i have a set of coppers at home so if anythin does happen i have a spare set.

I've always ran coppers.

BCPR6EY-11 (1.1mm gapped V-Groove).

BCPR6EY (0.8mm gapped V-Groove) arn't available anywhere.

I've ran the BCPR6ES however I felt a slight hessistation, had to drop boost back timing back etc.. Basically it felt like they didn't like the higher boost & aggressive timing.

Slapped the V-grooves back in and no worries, lots more mid range, boost came on hard etc.

I've changed plugs 3 times within 60,000km's. Everytime i've pulled them out they still look new. Actually the standards looked a little stuffed but I think I left them in for close to 30,000kms.

if its the place im thinking of, it start with a till?? i took my old sileighty there cos there was something wrong with the computer just wanted them to fix it or tell me whats wrong and i thought while its there they can service it just chuck in oil and plugs. Next thing i know they tell me they cant find the problem so i might as well rebuild the motor then they service my entire car from oil all the way to the number plate globe. Charged me double then what i was qouted. And i had just put new coolant in and they went and did that too. i was spewin never gone back to there.

u guys think that is bad?? .. my gfs mum brought her toyota camry to kmart for a service .. she dont' speak english too well and they called her up to notify her that other things needed fixing ... she agreed thinkin that it was only going to be little things like a globe here and there ... they ended up diong it without tellin her it was going to cost 2000 bucks!!! ... so in the end they charged for enough labour and parts to make her pay 1600 because they didn't have enough time to do the rest ... 1600 for 3 hours worth of work mind u and parts ...

Hiep: stop hijacking my thread byacth :)

vendetta, no its not tilbrooks matey, but sorry to hear about ur bad experince.

All i can say is that this experience has taught me to make sure u outline to the workshop exactly what u want done and that u want a fixed priced quote or else u wont bring ur business to them.

Sorry to hear about that bad experience EnricoPalazzo. So did you even walk away with a decent power increase??

I remember when I got Tilbrooks to tune my SAFC. Took literally not even 10 minutes, and they charged me $100 cash. Screw that I said to myself as i walked away. That kinda money for not even 10 minutes work? Iyah, thats madness, even a whore is cheaper! hahaha...... And what was worse was when I went to the last SAU dyno day a month later, I found out the bloody car was running too lean, cos Tilbrooks really did knife edge AFRs. So now I tweak it on dyno days instead.

Maybe we should group hire out a dyno for a day and everyone jump on the rollers and tweak stuff like timing, AFRs, EBCs, etc for max power..... It'd be cheaper than doing it individually like in Deans case. But im not sure if they do it here.

I remember when I got ****** to tune my SAFC. Took literally not even 10 minutes, and they charged me $100 cash. Screw that I said to myself as i walked away. That kinda money for not even 10 minutes work?  I found out the bloody car was running too lean.

i understand your angst especially cause it was not right BUT when you go for a tune you are usually paying someone for their expertise and knowledge use of dyno etc.. To me $100 for 10mins tuning work on a SAFC is very cheap providing it was set up right. i have no dealings with the aforementioned but would you let kmart or profix tune it for say $50? i think not. knowledge is power and power equals cash.

Iridium plugs are fine for most cars providing they are set correctly. what do you think hks, trust and other jap companys use? they certainly dont manufacture thier own (check the metal base for ND or NGK stamp) the problem in most cases is to large a gap. plugs are listed by manufacturers to suit stock cars. in stock cars there is no hassle, but add turbo, cooler, exhaust and 1.2bar boost your car is far from stock. My SR runs NGK 7eix's gapped smaller than the stock 0.9 and i have never had a problem even running 1.3bar with a HKS 3037s and stock ign system, neither have dozens of friends most with skylines running mid to high 200rwkw. be it rb25, rb20 or sr20. Ignorance or lack of understanding is no excuse to bag a product or make excuses for poor performance. again knowledge is power and knowledge produces results not excuses.

i use one tuner and so do most of my friends, no horror storys, no bullshit charges, full computer tunes start from $450 and he knows how to safely tune most cars to suit most driving conditions. i run my SR at a FAT 12 af and so does James at D1 in his s14.5, this was the figure we observed most jap tuners like SIGNAL use to give the best comprimise between longevity and outright power.
