based on the info from nengun its BCNR33 remapped by apexi to suit RB25 with djetro kit

so VCT should work

if you buy it id be interested in checking it out

either in flesh (vic) or photos

the kit comes with

remapped BCNR33 powerfc

djetro map sensor

map sensor loom

temperature sensor

boomslang adapter (cos it must covert native ECR33 loom to BCNR33 loom)

so be aware you'll have a boomslang / field one touch patch kit loom as well

kinda handy if u want to install other staff, but also adds to the cost

I've just emailed them about it. Pretty doubtful I will spend that money on something I esentially already have, but will see what the response says.

the last part # is the air temp sensor

but its weird as it includes a mazda map sensor and the boost control kit map sensor and loom

so its like the kit comes with the boost kit too, so im not sure on that one

i would believe it when i saw it, but it does sound odd you get both map sensors - maybe the description is wrong

yeah cn-2 one touch is the same as a boomslang loom patch kit, same product basically

lets them plug OEM ECR33 and then flip wires around etc to mate up with BCNR33

as its same stocket on each end and lets you do whatever you want on the wiring loom without making the user hack or solder their own loom

yeah thats fair enough. Does this mean that the Power FC has provisions for a 26 loom and the boomslang adapts it to 25. Or other way around, Power FC has 25 connector and the boomslang is for plugging it into a 26 loom

Get the point of the harness just unsure which way around it actually is

no it works like this

the powerfc you are buying is BCNR33 powerfc

the plug on that powerfc is the same as ECR33 powerfc

BUT

your car has ECR33 loom

which means it will plug in, but some of the wires are reversed and different

so if you were to plug in BCNR33 to ECR33 car it would probably short out or not work (worst case blow fuses, short out)

so in order to make it safely connect and all the sensors match

you use an inline patch kit and on the patch connector you make wire changes, ie flip wires, swap around, and in some cases, remove wires too

so your powerfc still remains a legit BCNR33 Powerfc the loom does all the hard wire work and then it connects to ECR33 loom

without the boomslang patch kit or one-touch connector before installing the BCNR33 powerfc you would have to cut wires, flip wires around etc

the plug is the same, but if you installed it, didnt do the wiring correctly and keyd-on it would either not work or fry shit

BCNR33 POWERFC ---> boom slang patch kit (with wire changes) ----> ECR33 loom plug under carpet

stock ecu ------> ECR33 loom plug under carpet

i tried to do what nengun has done here and the Mafia got it working ( i was too scared ) and cubes did it as well

they did it with std powerfc and not djetro

Yeah will see what they come back with in the email. Asked them about the two extra parts at the end and if it did run the VCT etc as if it were a normal RB25 power fc. I might be interesting in getting one, but will have to weigh up costs etc. As you said it wont really get me any gains in power, but I mainly just want to get rid of my AFM

im interested to know if its a legit apexi remap like the ap engineering units, ie it says RB25D-1 in the VERSION string under ETC, VERSION

and if you do a DATA INIT, does it return to RB26 defaults or the rb25 djetro defaults

if its a legit remap it should say RB25 in the version and when you data init it should return to 25 defaults

if its just a 26 djetro with a rb25 settings on the top (possible and would work) then if you check ETC, VERSION it will say RB26D and when you data init it the car probably wont start- so it will be interesting to see

i cant see them selling a once off tune, it would have to be a legit remap by apexi

but then if they do it (apexi do), why not let all suppliers stock it, as this is a nengun only special apparently

Yeah I cant see how they can sell it with a special remap that disappears if you init all data. You have to do this to do the self learn, and if you got it wrong the first time you used the Power FC then your left with a unit that cant be wipped. I dunno they make it sound like its a pretty legit deal. But Will see what Nengun say.

Does this mean that You will be able to add an air temp sensor and have that work on the hand controller as well etc. Im guessing that it does. If everything seems good then I may consider it. If I do end up buying one and you want a look, I'm happy to help you add some information about it to your FAQ, but I suspect someone else will buy it before me

BCNR33 has native working air temp support and it comes with the sensor

on the boomslang loom or one touch loom there will be an extra wire for the air temp sensor

youll need to tap and drill out a bung in the intercooler pipework somewhere for the sensor (its identical to the water temp sensor, same part #) and then fit that and run its signal wire onto the loom. the kit should come with instructions (i would like to see these) to show you where to wire that signal wire to

be sure to note the airtemp correction retards timing as airtemp increases

that is, its a correction used to back out timing when it has excessive intake temp (ie summer with boost)

If I'd got tax money I'd have one in my car right now. Just email nengun about it if you have any questions, they were pretty helpful when I asked about it

BTW Paul: I did hear back from them and they said that it was a remap by a tuner (from memory) in Japan that works closely with Nengun, but if "Data Init" is performed on the unit, then it needs to be sent back to Nengun to have the tune flashed back onto it. Bit of a shame but I can see exactally why they would do this. Its not much info but might be helpful at some point when you have enough info to put in the FAQ

    • I'd suggest the answer to the first question is at least a qualified "yes". I'll come back to that. Pineapples just don't do a lot to solidify the mounting of the subframe. They do a little bit, and that little bit was clearly helpful to me in the past, but the main thing they are intended to be used for is to tip the orientation of the subframe to try to either dial in more or less anti-squat. You can install them one way to try to increase launch traction, or the other way to try to increase lateral grip (at the notional expense of longitudinal traction). Or, as I did, you install them neutral, which only really offers a little bit of "snugging" up of the subframe. When I did pineapples, that was the only option. No-one had a machined alloy collar like the GKTech ones. There were some other options, but nothing like the slip in collars. And it is clear from looking at them that they occupy almost all the free space inside the rubber bush, so they will do a lot to stop them moving internally. So I thought, "that's the game for me!". Obviously the next/adjacent step is poly bushes, but what's the point in doing that with all the work and hassle required to change them over, when jamming (and I mean literally jamming) some alloy into the rubber bushes probably gives an equivalent, or possibly even superior result? So, to go back to your 1st question, I would suggest, for the investment of <<$100 and a morning spent lying under the car swearing and getting some sore fingers, it is certainly something you should try. Who knows? Maybe your situation is so severe that it doesn't solve it. But it might help a lot. If your problem is as severe as you say it is, the next thing to look at is what the rest of the bushes in the rear end a made from. Things like the Hardrace arms with hardened rubber bushes might be a good thing (for the purposes of having adjustability AND stiffer bushes). Otherwise, just poly bushes throughout could be a help. Or following in my fever dream footsteps and putting a lot of sphericals into the rear? Eliminate undersired movement to avoid the build up of resonances that cause the tramp. Also, if you have adjustable uppers in the rear, and you haven't put effort into adjusting the traction arms to minimise bump steer, there might be some advantage in that. If you don't want to go to the effort of doing it yourself (like I am pretty much forced to in Adelaide, owing to a lack of race alignment specialists) then surely there's a place in Melbs that is able to do it. It will cost $$, But that's life.
    • As someone who has pineapples, and horrible axle tramp... should I change these to collars? Is that what you're saying here? Why did you choose these instead of getting pineapples where you said you had good experiences of? I'd love to even attempt to get rid of axle tramp, I either get complete bogginess or absolute insane wheelspin, anything even remotely in between results in filling-removal axle tramp, to the point where launching the car is just not something I do.
    • Lucky for that, because putting ethanol in fuel only lowers the bulk cost of fuel if it's in 91 Add it to 98, 85% of it even and it quintuples in price. Strange physics. f**k you United, Gouging c***ts.
    • Not noticeably. Arguably, the catless turbo is going to work harder in a different direction, as it will spool up faster, go to higher speeds more easily. Only if it was tuned in the original condition. If it was a stock tune, using the AFM before and after the cat/dump change, then no, no retune needed. If the car is running on a MAP sensor, then it might well benefit from a retune. It might even run a little dangerously without a retune, but it could quite easily be fine.
    • We had this blend that uses 98RON + 10% Ethanol which brought it to 100RON. It's no longer available anymore unfortunately.
