The Nitto NT-555RII Extreme R road race and auto cross competition radial tire was developed through a unique fusion between a race circuit oriented stiff sidewall construction and the popular Nitto Drag Radial tread pattern. These features combined with the high traction, specially formulated soft racing tread compound resulted in a competition radial that exhibits impressive control and handling, to provide maximum traction under severe racing conditions. The Nitto NT-555RII is designed primarily for competition road racing. The sidewall construction is optimized for handling extreme lateral acceleration; vehicles may experience rougher riding when used for daily driving.

I don't know what the Nittos are like, but the azenis are at the *low* end of the r type tyre ranges - a good road compromise tyre but not in the same league as the dunlop formula r, bridgestone re540s or yoko A032rs

or the Michelins Pilot Cup (?) tyres on the new BMW M3 CSL, they are practically slicks! Altho with the CSL running 19inch rims as standard, i'd hate to think what the price would be.

EDIT: I think those tyres are the reason u need a CAMS license to drive a CSL. Don't think they are the best for the wet. Altho in the last MOTOR mags, PCOTY (performance car of the year) they were fangin around the hills in the wet, and in the CSL and said it was fine, so who knows.

$310 is damn cheap for tyres!

I hate having to take my R Specs off after a track day (I use the yoko A048's) but even though you can legally use them for the streets there's no way it can be justified. They just wear way too fast. But damn they grip once they get hot. :)

I am looking forwards to seeing some reviews and comparisons of these nitto's though. Im thinking though that their first attempt at a circuit tyre might not come up to scratch against the other boys but it would be good if I was wrong.
