How much would it cost to get a steel wheel on my turbo and have it hi flowed by GCG?

i intend on having the housings power ported to increase flow, and want the wastegate opened up as far as it can go/is necessary. i don't wany to run any more than 15-20psi will this get me 400hp at the fly? that is the target and i don't really want any more than that.

what do you reckon is the go? is that too much to ask? i am also going to get the manifolds power ported while i am at it.

gunmetal33, why even look at a GT30 if you are after around 250rwkw??? get a smaller turbo with better bottom end and midrange, otherwise you wont get an optimum setup.

If you do want to aim higher, remember you will have alot more lag, and probably need to have an adaptor made to fit the turbo, then you will need to upgrade the clutch to a twin. On the street it will be very different to drive, you will loose midrange and probably wont make strong boost until 4000+ rpm if everything else is going well. You may find it has even more lag without doing the exhaust manifold and cams/cam gear. You may well have to take a look at either doing a forged piston rebuild or decompressing the engine. It means alot more expense, and the car off the road for alot longer.

Dont get me wrong, I love my setup (3037), but I never started out thinking of a 2530, or a smaller turbo that would give good strong bottom end and mid range. Basically they will be two totally different setups to drive on the road, very different.

Decide what you want, when you have, start aiming towards that, otherwise, you just wont be happy with your car, it will cost you too much money and you will probably end up selling it and disappointed.

my 0.02

Perhaps you should try and see if you can score a ride in a couple of different cars, to sus out the difference and what you would prefer?

If that is all you want (400hp = ~220rwkw) and you claim to currently have ~200rwkw then why do you have to spend $4k to get the extra ~20rwkw?

Grab the GCG450 (or the GCG500, they are both the same price... call them) for $1900, "bolt it on", get a retune and be happy with 230rwkw+

I'm currently on 180-200rwkw also (depends which dyno I go to) and my goal for 2004 is 250rwkw and I can get the GCG500 for $1900 which "apparently" will do it or for about $3000 I have a wide variety of choices (going by the threads on here). I'll cross that bridge when I come to it because the more I read the more I get confused.

Yeah - T04e compressor - VG30 Exhaust - Garret core, GCG tubular manifold. - Way less than $4000 all up for the parts - all brand new with warranty etc from GCG.

255rwkw @14 PSI, 200rwkw @ 9PSI

It was fun - but my internals were better than that, hence the change to the HKS 3040 which is just awsome.

Yeh was speaking to the guy who is helping me rebuild engine, he said turbo wise (in order) get wastegate opened up, power port exhaust housing, send exhaust housing and core off, use T04 comp wheel, XTR T04 comp housing, he still hasn't made a decision on what turbine wheel to use but was thinking a 57 trim would probably be well suited and the exhaust housing would need to be machined out accordingly.

Now i am not sure how much GCG charges to fit and balance the core with the new trim wheels on it, nor machine the exhaust housing. but am i correct in saying the XTR T04 comp covers are only $200?

anyway i don't know jack bout turbo's thats why this guy is helping me out and is why i am asking the question.

I don't i only have about ~170rwkw on 12psi, and ive never run 12 psi either cos i get boost spike over 10psi, mainly cos i only got the stocko silvia cooler. and i don't really feel like detonating my engine right now with the hot weather we have had and bad fuel.
