Any Factory Red Gtr's Out There - I'd Like To See Them

Recommended Posts

Hey Marko!

Photos of mine here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/343044-1995-nissan-skyline-r33-gtr-vspec/page__p__5532512#entry5532512

I think the R34's had a "proper red"... the only reason I like mine is the uniqueness; I have not seen many R33 GTR's in the wine red colour.

Pardon my ignorance but did Nissan (not Nismo or a special edition) actually ever make a red GTR - not the maroon the 32's come in either. Proper red.

AH3 = Red Pearl Metallic (although it may look like a deep wine red, it is referred to as red)

more on that red group A version, were any of those sold to the public?

I too had never seen that R32. I figured all Group As were race versions. I have a set of group A turbos for sale however, suit rebuild :whistling:

same goes with the r32gtr's - sfa in red.

i like your response in your for sale thread haha very good "Lots of views but no interest... so this GTR is destined to be my future project. Thanks for looking."

1 of my mates who used to work for an aftermarket bmw specialist had a customer who had exactly that red group a gtr...his explanation of the car was that it was a promo car when the winfield gtr hit the scenes & it was the same colour with single wheel lock nuts etc - about 6yrs ago he wanted 60k for it

the funny thing is that he used to park it under a carport as well in his front yard (lived in bowral on acreage), he was more of a bmw enthusiast...well, once he took this gtr to a drive day @ wakefield with his mates who all drive bmw's & they all sledged him "rear wheel is a real race car" blah blah - anyway, this is how my mate met this guy as he built a race spec bmw m3 from the ground up!

Maybe some would know more info on this or correct me if i am wrong but there was 560 NISMO Group A Evolution build maybe some where red?, and only 228 N1 cars built. This is all can find on them but built my car to look a bit like the Group A version. Can anyone translate the writing in the Group A pic from above?

The Skyline GT-R 'Nismo', introduced on February 22, 1990, has a total production of 560 units as required for the "Evolution" models regulation (over 500). Its purpose is to homologate a number of aerodynamic changes used in Group A racing. Changes include additional ducts in the front bumper to improve airflow to the intercooler, a bonnet lip spoiler to direct more air into the engine bay, and an additional boot lip spoiler to provide more downforce.

The Skyline GT-R 'N1' model, introduced on July 19, 1991, was designed for home-market N1 racing with a total of 228 units produced. The most notable change was in the engine, which was upgraded to the R32-N1 specification. The car was also lightened by the removal of the ABS, air conditioning, sound system, rear wiper, trunk carpet, and the use of light-weight headlights. No color options were available and all 'N1' cars were delivered with a thin layer of Crystal White paint. The result was a 30 kg weight savings for a curb weight of 1,400 kg.

Production figures

  • Standard Cars = 40,390
  • NISMO Group A Evolution = 560
  • V-Spec = 1,453
  • V-Spec II = 1,303
  • N1 Race Version = 228
  • Total = 43,934
