Hi guys... This is kind of an odd question, but how long should a well maintained RB25DET last?? It's got 77k kms at the moment, and I can see myself doing 800km a week on it (mostly freeway driving though.) This seems to be alot of k's to put on a car :) Do you guys reckon i should just save up for a weekday runner to work and back, or will that be alright and last up to and beyond 200,000kms if I look after it??

Just wondering your thoughts.

Thanks in advance.

Sweet... i thought as much... what about the rest of the car though??? I currently have a Honda Accord (cos im still waiting for my ride to be complied) and that has 200,000+ km on it and I am confident the engine is in pretty good condition, but I can feel the *original* clutch starting to go, and the gearbox is okay, but hard to tell cos of the clutch. It is a very well engineered car, as most honda's are, and I have the same confidence in Nissans. The only thing is it makes some F**ked up squeeking noises, etc... Are there any known durability probs with other parts of the R33... i plan to replace everything by the time i finished with it anyway =D

strong as rocks.. i've put about 20,000km on my car in 14months or so of ownership (including a 1700km trip to move up to brisbane) and hasn't skipped a beat. Its up to about 95,000km now and still running great. As long as you change the oil, should be fine. Even thrashing it is fine :D as long as its all well tuned and with appropriate mods -- they're built for it.

I'd recommend a daily driver though because there are a lot of idiots out there!

The RB's run forever.

I bought my R32 dead stock at around 66,000km's just over 2 years ago.

A couple of months after I bought the car I had an exhaust fitted & FMIC fitted.

Pumped in 1bar of boost and I was off. The only problems I've had with it is a cracked radiator top tank & a clutch master cyclinder.

I've also replaced the clutch as that also died as soon as the boost was bumped up.

I've just hit 158,000kms.

So I've basically done a hard (lots of second gear snaps, lots of 4200rpm launches) 90,000km's in it since I bought it. I rev it to redline at least every time I drive it.

Most of my driving has been short trips + when I first got it lots of anzac driving looking for some V8's. :D

Heavy on Fuel?!?!?!

Sure they are heavy on fuel if the injection system isn't 100% due to lack of maintance.

Since the day I bought my car I have done the fuel filter every 20-30k.

Nulon Total fuel system cleaner (around $18) really does wonders.

When I first got the car from fill to the first sign of the low fuel redlight I would get 470km's from a tank. This was using the Total fuel system cleaner every 10k.

Recently I got slack and stopped putting it in. fuel consumption dropped to only barely scraping in on 400kays per tank.

Changed fuel filter slapped some total fuel system cleaner in and straight away I hit damn close to 500kays to a tank. Since then I have gone through 3 tanks of juice and still getting close to 500kays to a tank.

The R32 RB20DET is supposed to get around 10.5L to 100km's. The R33's are meant to get even less. If I remember correctly it was around the 9 mark.

I do drive on boost quite a bit and give it shit, fuel consumption doesn't seem to be affected much at all. Give a whole tank a hard time and I might see a drop of around 50kays to the tank. Take it easy on the highway and I will get easily slightly over 550kays to a tank.
