I don't understand why Mat didn't just put decent pads on the rear to begin with!? saves the trouble of changing them when they get cooked. Bendix Ultimates are rubbish pads for the track.

Rear brakes were thought to be ok. Mustn't have been checked well haha.

Ultimates will be fine for rears though.

First day on a track and i got 1m50sec and i fried my clutch! I guess thats what you get when you play with stock parts... :(

At least it was at the end of the day closedeyes.gif

That's enough drifting blah blah blah blah blah....

cough

Was a good day first time I have taken the GTR out, did a 1:48.1 probably could of done a bit better but needed the car for the next day at Heathcote drags and its my daily to and from work so couldn't afford any issues, seemed to be about 1 second quicker each session from the 1:53 I did on the practice laps.

Overall awesome day :D any pics of the white 33 GTR? :domokun:

Nice to meet a few new people as well good crowd of peeps.

Awesome day!!!!

Matt we did swap our dorians (major pain in the arse) and Johnny did have times to his name throughout the day. Ill go as far to say that the timing system for the day was shithouse. One of my sessions had 3 people listed and one time each...shafted. Others missed out on times for their sessions as well. People in the timing room had no idea.

The rear pads were ~90% but were unknown type; I didnt put them in. Must have been cheap shit and they just disintegrated with the amount of heat we were pumping into them. Its all good anyway we popped in a new set and away we went.

Im happy with the results and happier the car stood up to 2x abuse on its first outing with its best being a 1:40.3 on the KU's. In some sessions the car wasnt even turned off between driver changes!!

It has an ASI rad as well as a thin B&M oil cooler, coolant max was 92 while racing and oil max 120.

LOL @ being told off for 'drifting' twice! Those old blokes obviously havent driven a high powered RWD car. Must have been the tank slappers I had going out of pre grid that annoyed them a bit.

I enjoyed my day and was happy to get in to the 1:45s but what about not being able to finish your last lap, annoying.

4/5 through my best lap to get the red lights indicating session end, how f....., reckon I had a 1:35 in the bag :D

Yeah that's a mistake. Also can't find Johnny Rachelle in the overall results...?

I'm guessing they didn't put him in a class. He is there for individual sessions http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?09/04/2011.WIN

Looks like he got a 1.40.4 http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?09/04/2011.WIN.S22 pretty good for 235 KU36

Yeah thats what I thought too! Good times!

WOW! What a fantastic day.

My 1st track day & I'm hooked.

Good to meet some members - John & Chris.

Big shout out to Arron at ImportMonster for the Volk Challenge 18's & RE55's on Friday afternoon.

Certainly wouldn't have got a 1:39 without them.

The only question is can I get an oil cooler on(read:$$$)before DECA?

Also, apologies to the bloke in one of the Silver R33's.

I got a bit too keen under brakes into Turn 1, then missed 3rd @ the apex.

Sorry & I would have tooted my horn too. :spank:

BTW anyone get fuel from Caltex in Benella?

I had slight detonation above 8Krpm.

Only happened after I put in the 20 lt jerry can of Caltex in the afternoon.

Yeh we got a jerry from there, no det but the 32 is very conservative on IGN timing for the track.

Anyone got 33 LCAs for sale? I want to get some in before May 1st BP Midland Sprints :)

I was thinking about doing the midland sprints this year too :) Last time i did one was back in 2007, good fun!

+1. Shotgun John's :P

I may have two sets, just have to check the RHS from the last car. Visually it looks fine.

Matt when does the car go in for the turbo install? Get that ATR knobler out of there.

Leigh I have some video of your car, but waiting to give it to Laith to work his magic.

Watch out here http://www.stevenhendyphotography.com.au/Site/Events/Events.html for photos though, as he was there on the day.

    • Howdy friends, So another weird one today, I was looking into replacing some broken clips holding the front grille for the R32 GTR (part number 01553-03831), and noticed the brackets which are supposed to hold the grille in place were also missing 😑. I do recall seeing this issue many years ago, but didn't fix it at the time. A quick look on eBay and I was able to find the genuine brackets, along with all the screws which suited the headlights (part numbers 26042-08U05,26092-08U05). Happy days!....  Once they arrived however there was an extra nut in the packaging which implied that there should also be a bolt or a stud, and sure enough, after a bit of searching I found this thread from 2013, and @Ants clearly shows a stud should be present. Reading around a bit more, it's possible the headlights on my car are the "povo pack" headlights as mentioned by @funkymonkey in this thread way back in 2008. This could explain why the studs are missing on my set of headlights. Looking at the headlight diagram I wasn't able to see a suitable part number for the stud itself. The headlight did indeed have a recess that looked like it would accept a stud, but interestingly no thread or anything obvious how the stud would be affixed to the headlight, I suspect it may have been glued in, press fit, or melted into the plastic at the factory. Another member may be able to clarify if they happen to have a genuine set of N1 headlamps. The only thing we have to work with within the recess is a keyway which likely is there to prevent the stud from rotating within the recess. In any case, back to 3D printing, I put together a model which acts like a pug with a friction fit inside this recess, making use of the keyway so it doesn't rotate while tightening a bolt. Printing in TPU will allow it to slightly swell making a nice snug fit without cracking the part. I've designed the adaptor it to accept an 20 mm M6 bolt (stainless with a cap head in my case), as opposed to the standard M5 stud and I made use of the standard galvanised split washer that came with the genuine brackets from Nissan. Once the bolt and screws were all in place, giving the bracket a gentle shake gave the classic "shaking the car" feeling, very solid, which gives me confidence this is going to be able to hold on much better than the janky solution which seems to have been here for the past decade or so. Overall I'm really pleased with how this turned out and maybe there are more people out there running these headlights without a centre stud at all! • Hey everyone, This is my first post apart of the introduction. I tried searching a bit on the forum but couldn't really get a straight answer. I got the car to my mechanic as I felt it being weak. It seems that it was missing on two cylinders due to the injectors. I had all my injectors clean and the car runs much better. The mechanic also confirmed my suspicions that the cat is clogged and needs to be tackled asap. The cat rattles a bit and the hot exhaust warning frequently lights up when driving after getting the injectors clean. In my introduction I was asked about what modification I might be interested in and mentioned a cat delete. From what I was told, this is not really beneficial on the RB20DE and there are more cons than pros.  Could perhaps anyone give some suggestions on what the best course of action would be since the current cat is toast and needs to be removed/replaced anyway? I can also sometimes smell a strong smell of fuel, but I'm not sure if this is related.
    • Hope the cans went down well at least
    • 255 can't go wrong with the price.
    • When I was replacing my pump due to being stranded in the wrong state, I went with the Deatschwerks 320lph kit. It is a direct plug in to the stock wires, harness, everything. It comes with a plug... but you can plug the OEM plug directly into this thing. https://justjap.com/products/deatschwerks-dw300-fuel-pump-nissan-s13-silvia-r32-r33-r34-skyline-c34-stagea?currency=AUD Downside: Won't actually flow that much on boost if you want to push it on E85, but it's comparable to the 040/255 etc. Little more actually.
