2002 M35 Axis autech

An orange icon which looks like an engine block(squarish) , top rhs next to the tachometer suddenly came on while I was driving to work at 80km/hr this morning.

I had the engine oil(full synthetic) and filter changed 5000km ago ( 8 weeks ago). No obvious leaks detected with a quick check but I am very concerned.

Havent had a chance to do anything as it made me late for work.

Whats it telling me?

Is this sensor connected to my on board computer ( in Japanese) which tells me when to have a service etc.

If there is no problem how do I get rid of it?

thanks in advance.

Is the light still illuminated? If so, try the code reading procedure - it may identify the fault; it could be just about anything (But probably nothing too serious given your car is still driving around!)

I think, actually pretty sure, that a lot of Stageas go through this "check engine" syndrome. I have had it twice in the five years of ownership.

One always think "FFFF" what. And nine times out of ten it goes away after switch off and on and reset ecu. Both times it has gone away.

With all my exploits with mods, Mr Nissan's protection regime, ie "limp mode" will come in to effect if it is serious. This goes for the RS and N/A models. He built in a lot of safeguards to prevent total F/Ws from stuffing his reputation.

want to reset it?

Park up.. turn car off.

key in the ignition follow these steps..

1. Turn to on (to bring up reds) wait 7 seconds, turn off..(i usually turn it off just as the airbag light goes out which is about 7 seconds.) repeat this 5 times in total..

turn car off after 5th wait a sec then start your car as usual..

i use that to clear my flashing airbag light..

Will try this later tonight but is disconnecting the battery doing a reset?

Will this method clear all enginde codes.

I maanged to do this twice successfully out of 20 attempts. Why doesnt it work each time .

the engine warning light is still on. I wait at least 10 seconds before turning on the igntion.

No, its just for the airbag reset, you need to turn the key on, wait 3 seconds then floor the accelerator 5 times quickly, wait 7 seconds then floor it for 10 seconds. This will bring up the flashing codes. Flooring the pedal again for 10 seconds will clear the codes and ecu giving you 10 long 10 10 10 short flashes. Turn the key to off and you should be right to go. If you can get the codes, post them up.

I think your gas system may be causing the fault, the ecu needs to see the o2 sensor fluctuating many times a minute and the gas system may be slow at reacting or it is just running too lean. I would take it back to them if the reset doesn't clear it.

The liquid injection system seems very basic on the 2 cars down here I have worked on, it just has an adjustable regulator and set jet sizes to adjust the flowrate. The gas solenoids then fire off the stock ecu injector pulses. If yours is the same system it shouldn't be too hard to tune yourself with a wideband if you bought one. Just a thought.
