X31 Headset & 360

OK, wondering if anyone has a Turtle Beach X31 (X41 prob the same) headset for the 360? Bought one of these the other week and have found out that you cannot use HDMI output and the AV output cable together on the 360.

My HDMI goes to the AV receiver which then outputs video to the TV.. My receiver doesnt seem to have any sort of sound out to output to the X31 transmitter.. So i cut the tab off the AV cable that comes with the 360 and plugged that in.. (this is how majority of interwebs users got around it).. and voila all works good..

Found out though that if I change channel for whatever reason.. The 360 is resetting itself.. Highly annoying as I need to change it sometimes.. Figured there has to be a possible way around this.. So nerds.. Lay it on me.. What else options do i have so I can use.. Headset, Surround sound & not reset..
