Because it would be nice to see photos with a good description on how someone has managed to actually strip n assemble one, rather than a) Using special tool 2113-31413, extract reverse gear, making sure not to....

all you need to manage to do it is a press, snap ring pliers, circlip pliers some gear pullers and a decent tool kit with all the standard crap, oh and an oxy wouldnt hurt... if someone posted a diy thread up that was spot on but had all these tools that ppl ask what the hell is that for do you think they would go and buy them just to do a gearbox... good pullers are a couple hundred with long arms, knipex snap ring pliers are like $120.. then a press and oxy... it all adds up...,

maybe you have the tooling to do this... maybe you dont but a lot of people probably wont and posting a diy thread on how to do this could end up with heaps of half stripped gearboxes on ebay cos "something broke" when the wrong tool was used.

it was said before gearboxes shouldnt be taken to with a shifter, a hammer and a screw driver.. but if you got tools get the manual and give it a shot

I think everyone would know it isnt a diy job for the most part, and wouldnt go spend hundreds on tools, a press, then the parts to rebuild on top. The cash spent to get a shop to rebuild it would be worth the outlay and save a headache of doing it. Most people have the common sense to read between the lines and know when somethings worth doing in the end.

Then again, if someone comes along and says that they can rebuild one, id like to see how they manage. I dont care what Jim Bob does after reading it, with his screwdrivers and hammer

the manual is very good... detailed

im sure if time permits there is heaps of ppl that could to it with good pis and all there would be a couple of "special" home made tools me thinks
