can anybody shed some light on my own and junkie13's posts?, is there any markings on the stick or any way to tell by taking the rubber booty thing off?

Can't you guys find a Skyline with a known stock gearshift. Get in and move the lever through the gears.....then do the same in your car....believe me ..if you have a short shifter you will know it!!!.

lwells: After 2 years of regular drags and sprint days + all the normal mileage my gearbox is less crunchy than it was when I got the car.....mind you...I tend to change gear rather than ram it in ;)

How much harder are we talking? Enough to shorten the life span of the box, or will a good oil more than compensate for the difference?

LW.

Yes you wear the synchros quicker. The oil will only go so far to help.

Personally I would still fit one but I would be prepared to rebuild/replace the box in a year or 2 since I dont know the condition of the box in the car as it is.

Depends on how much driving you do of course and how much you make use of the quickshift. If your slamming the gears home every gearchange obviously its not good for it.
