I have a throttle pedal adjustment box which also does basic cruise control and was wondering if anyone knows where to find the speed signal wire in a M35. It may be a yellow/blue wire on a four pin plug....somewhere.... I am trying to get the japanese instructions translated but was wondering if anyone knows.

The device is a Pivot 3 drive AC in case anyone was wondering.

There is no speed signal I can find, its certainly not going to the ecu as it all goes down the CAN line. Perhaps there is a plug under the dash near the speedo? or there could be one off the auto ecu? It would be good if you could translate the instructions and let me know too.

There is a four pin plug under the steering column on the left side or in the left front footwell kick panel area. This is what a workmate's rudimentary Japanese has told us so far.... and it's not the yellow/blue wire- that's for the brake signal.

As soon as I know more, I'll post it up.

Here's a scan of parts of the japanese wiring instructions and also the engrish manual. The plug I am looking for is N-d on the first page of the pivot 3 drive ac pdf. The middle page shows the location for plugs in the car's cabin and the chart on the last page gives you an idea where the brake plug and speed sensor wires are.

If anyone can point me in the right direction it'd be most appreciated!

Looks good, what did it cost shipped?

Andy told me it was about $320 delivered. That makes it a pretty good deal if it does the whole cruise control thing well. I don't particularly care about the throttle sensitivty control, although it could be an interesting toy to play with for a while.

I'm still investigating the integrated 'factory look' cruise but it won't be as cheap as that. Maybe it's not worth worrying about.

Re the speed wire and CAN; there must have a separate speed wire somewhere cause my info meter doesn't display speed (or anything using speed to calculate like gear position etc) yet all the other info is gathered via the CAN bus (after I reconnected a critical wire in the OBDII connector). I'd be keen to know where this wire is also.

yes its a brown plug. it also has accessories power and the optional extras plug into it. i have something plugged into mine for the remote starter etc. ive seen other stuff that use this plug too

Excellent! I'll have a look and see if mine's been tampered with. Maybe I just need to extend a wire down to the OBDII connector somewhere to get the speed to register on the Info Meter. I'll be in touch...

I have a cruise control fitted to my M35 & took speed sense from the ECU . If you can scan the instruction manual of your pivot 3 Im sure my partner could translate it for you.

Hey Brett, does that include one that I've got? I scanned a few pages to try copying sections into an online translator but it didn't work. Can I send it to you?

Cheers, Leon.

Jeez you guys are awesome. My workmate showed the instructions to his Japanese wife last night and it's "brown plug taped on the car harness" in "back left hand side of the steering". Spot on.

Looks like I'll be busy later on tonight when I get home- I'll let you know how it all works.

Thanks again.

Oh, and I looked up my IM account and the unit cost $321.63 delievered. I think it was 18001 jpy which is a pretty good price for the harness as well...

I think the cruise version (AC) is the up-spec. It's only really a throttle sensitivity controller with the added bonus of cruise function in this variant. I saw it whilst browsing and bought it on a whim. If it works as cruise above 110 then the wife'll be happy and I don't imaging we'll use it as a throttle controller.

The throttle control works but the cruise doesn't. Don't have time to look into it any further at the moment so will try to firm up which of the pins is the speed signal- the diagram shows pin 3 of 4- but doesn't say if looking from behind or infront. Sigh

    • I would not be surprised if you are the only person on earth that has the interest/desire to do that lol.  The Haltech base map is a really good starting point, the car will fire easily and drive very well, even on mild boost levels. To me, following your advice sounds like some sort of ancient Chinese water torcher lol (this is not an insult Josh, never change <3)
    • Those car show concepts from the 2000's and 2010's like the Floria and IDx were brilliant and should've gone ahead, at least one of them. But neither Honda nor Nissan are thinking about affordable performance any more, which is truly sad.  Even if Toyota's liquid hydrogen ICE development reaches the point where it's commercially viable and the infrastructure to support it, Honda/Nissan would have to wait until Toyota allow fee access to their patents to offer it with any smaller performance models they released to take advantage of it.
    • A sporty manual RWD coupe with a IL4 Honda engine would only be a good thing I assume we won't see anything released for a few years though, unless informal talks and designs have been going on for a few years,  and due to the current, and future, emmisions and safety requirements, I assume anything "sporty" they would do would be at least some hybrid thingie And hopefully anything they are thinking of has nice lines, without lots of plastic and fake bits hanging off it like that horrendous FK8 that looked like it was designed by a 13 year old The other issue of course in the current market is cost, currently the type R is around $70k, a twin is around $50k Meh, I'm old and grumpy and would rather buy a older model car and waste my coin on that than buying anything currently available new
