Just about to purchase a R32 GTS-T for a crazy cheap price but the old owner has let the rego expire and has handed the plates in. ( idiot )

Its got a list of mods including but not limited to: FMIC, Exhaust, Pod Filter, BOV + Rims.

It has no bumper on the front or the back and also needs a new rear window. ( Hence the extreemly cheap price )

My questions are:

1. Will I have trouble with the pits + these mods? The Pod filter is braced by two points so that should be ok but the exhaust and fmic.. I just don't know.

I've read almost every link on this post: Vehicle Regulations, Licensing And The Road Traffic Laws but its not car specific and doesnt help me that much.

The body kit I can find, the painting I can get done but I dont want to start begging for parts like standard exhausts and intercoolers just to make it over the damn pits.

I'll get the rear window done thats not a big deal. might cost a few $$$ but!!

*Car is my avatar will post better pictures tomorrow.

I called the W.A. Licence number and these are the costs incase anyone was wondering:

Inspection: $87.90 (Pits)

Plates: $23.90

Rego: ~$250

+ Stamp duty.

A temp permit ( Can be obtained over the phone ) for driving it around - $21 lasts for 48hrs.

it all depends who you get and what sort of mood their in. some will have no problems with that sort of stuff aslong as the essentials (brakes, tyres etc) are all good, others will get real anal over little shit and fail you.

best thing to do is make the car as stock as you practically can, make sure it has good brakes and tyres and make sure theres no evidence of oil leaks etc anywhere

Lol. My GTR passed the pits and its well modded. But mostly depends on how the inspector is feeling... Hell, mine even had a lit hicas light (lock bar), holes in the bonnet & boot...

Make sure its not loud and make it look like you've made an effort to make it legal. (Talk to the guy, explain this that etc)

i went through this in nsw this time last year, my car had full exhaust (no cat) bigger rims an extensive modifications in the engine bay, i took it to a place to get a blue slip, luckily i had a engineers cert to go with it, although it only covered basic things and exhaust and rims nothing in engine bay. i am not sure how it works over there but it is only randomly chosen and not very often mind you that you you need a full inspection, i got cleared with a blue slip and then organised all my rego only prob i had was stupid woman at rta put the vin chassis no wrong and sped 3 days trying to find matching codes for import papers, wasnt impressed.

so as long as you make the effort to try and make it look streetable/sound streetable with everything where it is suppose to be you should be ok, but as i said done in nsw not sure if it is compulsary for you in wa

Depends on the inspector as said above. Give the underside of the car a good de-greasing so nothing looks like it's leaking, make sure you have good tyres and a tyre placard. Also make sure you have in writing that you have purchased the unregistered car, "PAID IN FULL", signed and dated. And the amount of stamp duty you pay depends on how much you pay for the car (hinthint)

Love how you assume the car is losing fluids :)

What he said though, you'll want a receipt of sale, something simple will do.

Yes Definately what ichizora said remember that paper signed and dated with PAID IN FULL on it, i had this problem when i bought a un-lic gtr it passed the pits first time no probs etc but i didnt have the paper with me so i had to fill out a statutory declaration saying who, where and when i bought the car from and was a pain in the arse because i didnt have the sellers details so then i had to come back another day to pay rego, stamp duty and plate.. So definately remember it and save yourself the hassle of running back and forth

Hey bro,

Check this thread...http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/354799-starting-to-think-about-compliance/

I was the OP, disregard the Plan-FAILURE, mods being nazi faggots.

FMIC and exhaust shouldn't be a prob. As the above thread details, the focus seems to be more on everything being bolted down and nothing rattles/moves. Probably something I will be doing with the FMIC will be just putting mesh in the front bar as I've heard some people have been knocked back for an exposed FMIC. Aftermarket exhaust is fine as long as its within the sound threshold. The more original it looks, the easier it will be to pass it seems.

You will definitely need front and rear bars as well as the glass but I'm sure you know that haha.
